Clear lenses

I've got the chrome effect bulbs from BM Town and although they are marked at 21 watts they are not really bright enough in daylight.
How bright are the ones you've got,Joe.

Power mirrors

There is not a lot of difference between early and late mirrors. The later(E28 based) mirrors bolt straight on and the wiring is the same from what I remember. The motors are sealed units and to strip the mirror is a right P.I.T.A. The wiring is sealed into the body with very tough sealant and you nee...

Wheels

Most good engineering supply shops should sell copper drifts. An alloy one would do.It's only to stop the thread getting damaged.

The cable adjusting nuts are right by the lever.Take the console surrounding the handbrake lever off and bingo there they are.

Refurbing wheels

There are only two parts to the wheel. The rim and the hub and they are bolted together with about 36 bolts (from memory). You need 12 point sockets to remove and a hammer and thin copper drift.I've got some spare nuts and bolts so will check socket sizes tomorrow.

Handbrake adjustment.

You need to slacken the nuts on the cables and then check the adjusters inside the rear disc.To do this, remove one stud from each back wheel.Turn the wheel and using torch you can see the adjuster star wheel.Turn starwheel using thin screwdriver clockwise to expand, anticlock to retract until the sh...

Refurbing wheels

Hi Dave, You have got the same wheels as me and technically they are not split-rim.On a split-rim wheel the actual rim splits apart (as in most airplane wheels) but on these BBS wheels the hub is bolted to the rim.The bolts are special to BBS and are tapered/splined with a fancy special nut. I sugge...

Diff Mount

Hi Dave, Yes there is a WOBBLE BAR. It's an extension bar 1/4, 3/8 or 1/2
inch drive.Instead of having a square end they have a slight ball-end which gives the drive about a 15 degree angle.Very useful tools especially on airplanes. Regds.

Window seals

Regarding the external window seals,I cut a piece of the rubber moulding and sent a section to various trim specialists around UK.None of them could match the shape.Somewhere a factory must have made this section
in hudreds of yards/metres.Just a pity we can't find it!!!

Headrest fix

Remove the seat back and you'll see the drive cable from the motor to the rack.Operate the switch whilst pulling the cable up as far as possible. With a bit of juggling it should work. When you've got it to work, hold the cable in that position and safety-wire it to the brace that runs across the back...
