Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
I lowered it! Got rid of the monster truck look up front! I fitted Blue-stripe E30 springs to lower the front about 1 - 1+1/4 inches, which would make the gap between the tire and the fender flare about an inch or less. Turned out perfectly! had to cut about 9-10mm off the top of the bump stops to k...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
More like yesterday, but I went out to my local track to spectate a track day hosted by our local Caffeine and Gasoline group. There were many amazing cars there, including a Formula Mazda which I was even allowed to sit in! But at the last session of the day, they had one slot open for a car to tak...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
Installed a factory toggle switch that lets me enable/disable the automatic antenna without affecting my subwoofer amp. Now I can keep the antenna retracted whenever I'm not using the tuner. Installed it in one of the empty slots below the radio. Looks like it belongs there! Edit: Added picture http...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
Gaz, if I may ask, what wheels are you putting those on, and what size are the tires? I'm running a stock 15x7in setup ATM and I'd like to fit 225s instead of the 205s currently installed, but I can't hardly find any tires in this weird size anymore. As much as I hear larger wheels can somewhat kill...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
Saturday I went to a meet where I parked next to a pair of E28s! I was beginning to think I was the only classic BMW driving around, since I hardly even see E30s with any frequency. https://i.imgur.com/2DNmPAS.jpg Sunday I changed the oil almost 3000 miles on the dot. I put5oz of Seafoam in with the...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
if the pads are not coming off the disc fully for whatever reason (and one common cause is a faulty MC BTW), you will quickly get a runout-induced disc thickness variation (DTV) because the pads will kiss (and wear) the high spots on the disc. A DTV of 0.0005" (yes, half a thousandth of an inc...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
When you had the new subframe installed, were new upper and lower control arm bushings installed at that time? If not, I would take a look at them to see there condition. If there are any cracks in the bushings they need to be replaced. If they were replaced, when they installed them were they tigh...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
I’d be checking obvious things like whether the caliper bolts are loose. Also check the pads are wearing evenly. Does it vibrate at speed or when cornering and not braking ? I have not checked caliper bolts.. ever? Wow, shows how up to date I am. Will definitely inspect. It vibrates violently while...

Massive vibration under heavy braking
So, I have a quite irritating/dangerous issue where I get a violent shaking of the steering wheel and pulsing through the brake pedal under heavy braking. The intensity of the shaking/pulsing varies with brake force applied, but the frequency of the oscillations are not affected while braking. The s...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
On Saturday, I drove 120 miles out to Bentonville, Arkansas for a car show and poker run, participated in said poker run (about a 60 mile loop around a lake), and another 120 miles back. 0 issues, not one drip of fluid below where it should be! \:D/ Though, I may have got the brakes quite warm while...

1988 635CSi, "Fritz"
So now that we've had the car for a while now, and I've built up a thorough archive of pictures, I figured I should finally start my own thread \:D/ I have an 8/87 build 635CSi auto with an estimated 146k miles (estimated because odo stopped working), basically stock, everything original (save for a...

Does the cruise control stalk still click and return normally? If so, how much for it shipped? Also, out of curiosity, what are you asking for the pair of turn signal lenses?

ZF Transmission won't select 1st gear manually
So I recently came across a weird issue with my transmission. After months/years of working correctly, it no longer wants to select first gear if I have it set to "321" mode. When I move the shift lever all the way down to the "1" position, normally the "1" gear indicat...

Re: M30 b35 rough idle.
Mine likes to lope a bit at idle (about 700-750rpm for me), but it doesn't stumble over itself or acts like it's about to die, and it pulls and revs very happily like you described. I think it's the nature of the beast, but you can check all your rubber vacuum lines and intake boots for cracks or di...

Re: Continuation of a trailer full of parts
I can't tell you what I have until Tuesday when I inventory all of it. I doubt there is an SLS pump and if so I wouldn't know if it worked. No worries, thought I'd take a shot in the dark by asking. If there is one I'd be interested, but not heartbroken if there isn't. Jay has the solutions for all...

Sorry to read about your car, I don't know how I would handle that if that happened to me. Was the self-leveling pump still in operation? If it works, I'm interested in it
