Re: Slow oil seep from front of engine

Another less likely culprit is the A/C compressor which can have a seal failure dumping the lube. Hi Sansouci - I can thankfully take the A/C compressor seal out of contention, since I had my unit rebuilt by Jay. The oil drops that show up on the compressor are definitely coming from above... that ...

Re: Slow oil seep from front of engine

My '88 M6 came with several oil leaks which I painstakingly tracked down and repaired. +1 on thoroughly degreasing the engine to start. Hard to spot the source otherwise. The biggest leak and easiest fix on my car was a loose clamp on the power steering return line at the reservoir. ... Thanks for ...

Re: Anybody remember the MWrench Sunshade Hook Repair kit?

When I looked into sunshade clip fixes years ago I ran across a 3D technical drawing in IGS format. PM me and I'll send it to you, since the forum won't let me attach it. In full disclosure, I can't attest to its accuracy, so caveat emptor!

Re: Slow oil seep from front of engine

Have you tried cleaning up the whole front with soap/water, and then checking daily? Hi Jose - I think a general cleanup is a good place to start since there's a lot of grime/sludge everywhere. What components should I learn how to remove in order to get "full" access? Fan? Radiator? Dist...

Slow oil seep from front of engine

Hi all - I did some searching on this without success. Also, please forgive my ignorance of S38 front-engine anatomy! My '88 M6 has had a slow oil seep from the front of the engine for a while now - slow enough to rarely collect on the floor, but definitely noticeable as grime or sludge in lower are...

Re: A/C decals

Still curious as to "charge" different numbers on those decals ,assume it's Freon capacity? Paul - I recently went through an A/C rejuvenation and can confirm that 1675g / 3.69 lbs. is the original M6 fill level for R12. See the pic of my original sticker (which was removed soon after) be...

Positive feedback for Jay Stratton (JCS) - A/C compressor rebuild

After letting it sit dormant for more years than I care to admit, I finally decided to resuscitate or replace my A/C compressor which had shown evidence of a leaking seal. Luckily Jay Stratton (JCS) added compressor rebuilds to his skill set (I had previously had him rebuild my P/S pump), so I sent ...

Re: My New Air Conditioning Book is Now Available on Amazon

I can vouch for the quality and readability (as expected for Rob) of this book. It’s a great resource for those who need a “nudge” to finally fix that long dormant A/C system. All of the necessary tools and supplies are described, as are the typical bugaboos in not just resurrecting but improving yo...

Positive experience with Germany Auto Radio Repair (Los Angeles)

For more time than I care to admit I had a non-functioning OEM radio, due to a couple problems (broken cassette mechanism, "crackly" volume knob, dead backlight). I finally decided to bite the bullet and get it fixed. I took a chance with a small shop in North Hollywood: Germany Auto Radio...

Re: Blower motor intermittent speed/ not working

it has been a while, also depends on the year of your car, but, there is a blower motor resistor I think it was that is behind the blower motor that goes bad. Unfortunately, only way to get to it is removing the blower motor and to do that you are removing your center console, glove box, etc. Huge ...

Re: Value of '88 Zinno/Silbergrau M6

I'm a bit confused: on the one hand you mention that there's "documentation", but then point out that none of the mechanicals have been touched... can you clarify? If there's no satisfactorily detailed maintenance history, then $40K is way too high of an ask. Go through the Bring a Trailer...
