Re: No Spark 85 635csi - TRIED EVERYTHING
Wild shot in the dark, but is there any chance that the sensor pickup on the flywheel is missing? I had that issue after rebuilding, I think the machine shop knocked it off.

Re: No ignition on hot days
I think I would try to mark off the obvious culprits first. Battery/starter. When it happens, get someone to turn the key and start jiggling wires at the battery and starter to see if you can locate the problem. Tap relays, and starter. Then check power at starter to see if you are getting power to ...

Excellent write up!
I will add.... if the machine shop knocks the raised pin off of the flywheel, the car will not start! Trust me, I know.

Re: Clutch Bleeding - BMW Factory Method
Glad it worked for you! Last weekend a buddy called me and said he was using a Capri bleeder to flush brakes and clutch on his e39 M5. Capri is a vacuum style bleeder that runs off of air pressure. Nice unit, that works great most of the time. He said something went wrong and the clutch was dead. I ...

Most likely some kind of pressure device. Clutches can be tricky.
This is the best method I have used. Works every time.

Re: Transfer pump removal
I went through this a couple of years ago. I believe there are two types of pumps. One bolts down and one twist lock. Twist off is normal direction. Spray ppenatrating lube and tap with a punch. Harder part may be finding a replacement, they were tough to get for a while and sometimes you would get ...

Rough running today....but got better
I haven't driven my M6 much this year. I decided to drive it this morning. A little slow starting and had a skip, which was weird as it always runs perfect. I noticed it was pretty low on fuel, so I stopped at the station and filled it up with premium/non ethanol. Skipped the rest of the drive to wo...

Re: What is this fuse box? 1987 L6
I have removed a couple of old alarm systems. If you can locate a manual somewhere, that can be a good start. Most of the systems disable a system, like the starter. So, a starter trigger wire will be cut and routed through the alarm. Just undo the alarm wires and reconnect the factory wires. Just t...

Re: Rear Ac works front Not
Hope it's not the "voltage regulator" as they dont appear to be available anymore. I think it was made by Denso. I contacted them a year or so ago and they said it was made for BMW and not available for sale. Currently my AC has the same issue, pretty certain it is low on freon as the VR i...

Re: Coolant Overheating Issues
Glad you got it solved, that could have been bad! Years ago when Al radiators first came out they gave a lot of trouble because people used a phosphate antifreeze in them. It would react and cause AL/phosphate deposits. I only use BMW antifreeze (phosphate free) mixed with distilled water. For some ...

Re: 87 M6 A/C QUESTION
Thanks Chuck, that would make sense. The system has enough charge to run one but not both. I know the previous owner replaced something he called the suction throttle valve. He put a lot of effort into getting the AC right. May just be down on the charge a little.

87 M6 A/C QUESTION
Drove the M6 today and used the ac. The rear ac blew very cold, but the front was hit or miss. No matter where I dialed the front temo knob the ac just didnt get very cold in the front. Seemed to work better if I turned the rear temp up about half way. i am thinking the front temp controller knob is...

Re: Fuel level sending unit
Lots of various aftermarket floats available. I cant recall what the e24 level looks like but if all you need is a float, it shouldnt be too hard to find something you can adapt.

OBC button light replacement
I drove my 87 last night and noticed the lights on the OBC buttons were not working. No issues with the LCD or backlight, just the buttons were dark. I did some reading and there is a small twist dash type bulb that does the button lights on the back of the OBC. I tried to remove it through the radi...

Very sorry to hear of the passing of your father. We all go through tough times and sometimes all we can do, is to do the next right thing. Delayed decals? So what. Glad you are finding a path back to peace. Wish I could buy you a beer.

Re: door weatherstrips Front and rear window
I ordered and received a set for my 87 m6. The quality appears top notch. I started to install them, but I just wasnt in the mood for the project. My rubber is very stiff but not cracked. I was scared of messing something up during removal. Pretty sure the door cards need to be removed on my car. On...

Re: Rough idle/ misfire on an 85
I had a bmw that started running rough, very rich, hard to start and would run best under acceleration. It turned out to be a bad fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. May be worth checking out.

I would see if OEM springs are still available and how expensive they are. I think you need to go with lower springs and new (B8) shocks or keep your B4's and stick with OE springs.
