Re: M635 Air Con Compressor Belt Swap
Thanks Ron, I have a lovely new Rad, which thankfully is still in its box. :) However the aircon rad is still in place and I have no access to the RHS of the engine bay without moving the car. Is it possible to remove the compressor top mount from the underside or do I need to remove the bonnet? Che...

Thanks Ron,
How do you access the top mount bolts please? Can I do this from the underside of the car?

M635 Air Con Compressor Belt Swap
Hi All, I am replacing all the belts on the car with new BMW items. The tensioners are a great design, with sawtooth track above the slot and a toothed 19mm 'nut' that walks along the track until the belt is tensioned and then locked off with the 13mm on the other end of the coach bolt that goes thr...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
Disc warping or uneven thickness. I have had this on two of my cars in the past (911 Turbo and Monaro VXR500) and it can only be resolved by either new discs or having the discs skinmmed on the car: https://skimmydiscs.co.uk

Re: Ignition Coil: BMW, Bosch or Beru?
Don't think it is a Bosch as it is the wrong colours but the can is pretty corroded too so will replace it with new and stick the old one in my ever growing old but ok spares bin. :)
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Ignition Coil: BMW, Bosch or Beru?
Thanks Brucey, The coil is unbranded and looking rather tired. To be fair it works perfectly well so the main initial reason for replacing it is aesthetics. However, being of indeterminate age and origin makes me a little wary so fitting a shiny new Bosch coil seems the way to go. :) New plugs, roto...

Ignition Coil: BMW, Bosch or Beru?
Hi All, As part of my engine recommissioning / preventative maintenance work, I am about to order an ignition coil. Looking at REAL OEM to get the part number (12131286087), I noticed how expensive they are, and from experience the UK prices are often higher than those quoted on RealOEM ($114.46 is ...

Help Identifying a Mystery Part
Hi All, Whilst cleaning the inside of the engine bay, I found this lying on the chassis rail, under the ABS / Header tank area of the LHS of my engine bay.Looked like it had been there a while as it was covered in grime. Can anyone identify what it is and where it goes please? https://thumbs2.imgbox...

Re: M653CSI / M6 BBS Split Rim Info / pictures?
Additionally, THESE GUYS are local to me. I could get them to powder coat the centre cap large nut and wheel rims 'Chrome Silver', the spokes 'Black Chrome' and assemble them with new gloss black bolts..... I think they would look amazing finished that way so worth getting a price. From their site i...

Re: M653CSI / M6 BBS Split Rim Info / pictures?
Thanks Ron,
That is the correct type but unless I am missing something, they don't do black.
I found THESE BOLTS which are the correct style, color and material. Add in THESE NUTS and that's the lot at £153 all in. :)
Anyone used this supplier?

Re: M653CSI / M6 BBS Split Rim Info / pictures?
Next.question
Can anyone recommend a UK supplier of reasonably priced M7x30 high-tensile steel, black flanged and splined bolts with flanged 12point nuts please?
I can find 'BBS Rebuild' kits on eBay and Amazon but Don't trust their quality....
Thanks,
Ian

Thanks Chaps!
Exactly what I needed. So polished rims and black bolts for my RC009/RC010 wheels will look pretty much spot on (albeit a little more dish and lower profile tyres). I was torn over the gold centres but as my car has a red interior I am leaning to keeping the centres silver.

Centre Console, Between Seats
Hi All, At some point in the past a bodge-it-fit in-car phone installation has resulted in a number of holes being drilled in the rear-section centre console of my '85 M635CSI. IE: The section rearward of the gear lever, that extends between the seats where the handbrake emerges. Do any of you happe...

M653CSI / M6 BBS Split Rim Info / pictures?
Hi All, I have recently acquired a set of BBS RC009 and RC010 wheels for my M635CSI restoration. They are very close to the OEM wheel style and whilst the wheels are in fairly good condition, and certainly good enough for the interim, I will be reconditioning them at some point for when I finish the...

Re: Opinions on these wheels, please?
Thanks! One of the main reasons I chose 235/45x17 was the information supplied by Francoid, a little over halfway down THIS THREAD where he says: Disclaimer: I used to be the global head of sports tires at Michelin in France and created the Pilot Sport line. So I have some knowledge but also some bi...

Re: Opinions on these wheels, please?
Thanks Brucey. Once I have finished restoring the engine bay and rebuilt the engine (and fitted the good TRX tyres to the original rims, MOT etc) I will do a week on both and report back. Buckinghamshire roads are amongst the worse in the country so plenty of scope to compare handling..

Re: Opinions on these wheels, please?
Wow, great info both! My M635 came with 415 diameter (16 1/3"), 195 (7 2/3") wide, ET19 wheels with 240/45 TRX. My theory is that opting for a very slight increase in rim diameter and width to 17" and 8" respectively and 235/45 tyres should be as close to original fronts as possi...
