Looks to me as if the car is rusty in the "normal" places - but I have seen MUCH worse. IMO, if you're going to restore any E24, why not a late model? If it was me, I would be thinking of investing that $1000 and putting the car back on the road. Good luck, whatever you decide.

if you pill the ABS fuse you can run without ABS and this will tell you if the brakes are basically Ok apart from the ABS. Provided there is no PO modification, the brakes should work fine in non ABS mode since they contain a bias valve for the rear brakes anyway. The most common fault is a wheel s...

If I'm considering swapping parts between cars (even 6'ers of different years) I always input the VIN into RealOEM, find the relevant part, copy the number, then input it into the search box to see what other BMWs it will fit. This is a fair indication of what fits what. However, BMW sometimes chang...

Rule # 1 Gentlemen. Never ever ever trust a dealer when buying or selling a classic car. They always have their own agenda and are not looking out for your best interests. I would always prefer to deal with a private individual. I am wondering if #164 will sell at his marked up price. If it didn't ...

Don't be too upset when you see your car advertised for significantly more than you sold it for. I know, but I think I got a fair price for it as it's not concours. The dealer may be keeping it in his own collection and selling his silver M635 which has covered just 45K miles and also came from She...

I don't think you need to drain the whole system (unless you feel like changing all the fluid). You will need to bleed the air out though unless you "reverse bleed" from the calipers if you have the necessary equipment. Some people on this forum have been recently discussing the fact that ...

You are correct. I have double-checked my M635 with M-Tech bumpers and they are exactly the same as all Euro E24s & E32s. Hope this helps

I keep an eye out on ebay. You can get most parts if you keep looking. The best way is to collect them over a period of time so you're not pressured to pay over the odds when rushing to make the purchases

IMO it would be a shame to drill holes unnecessarily. In a few years, the sensors will probably have ceased to operate and you have an E24 with ugly holes in it [-X Consider all the E24s with evidence of car phones having been fitted at some time or another!
