Re: Pulling Rear Parcel Shelf '87 CSI, Pod Paint, etc
While Ralph mentioned the seat belts, he didn't mention that you will need to disconnect them from where they bolt in under the rear seats and feed them through the parcel shelf, in order to completely remove the shelf :-" And you do need to be careful in the corners as you can damage or even t...

Re: Mysterious bulb
Do you have the wiring diagram for a 79? Yes, the ETM covers model years '77 through '82 but the wiring diagrams are huge  They fold out and are probably about 1M in length, really not something that could be easily copied :-k But there may be a link to the ETMs and/or wiring diagrams here, ...

Re: Mysterious bulb
Do you have fog lights :-k I took a look at the ETM for '79 US model and while most wires are bi-colored behind the instrument cluster, the only gray wire I saw was for the for the fog light switch :-" Brown would be for ground, typical for BMWs  But if you have fog lights, try to turn th...

Re: Brake Bleeding '87 csi
Phil, I have to respectfully disagree with this statement [-( Getting an assistant to cycle the brake pedal down and back up with the bleed valve opened and then closed off again is probably the most reliable bleed method out there. The 2 person method requires fairly precise coordination between th...

Arqtect, The side bumper surrounds on your '84 were originally black plastic :-k Presuming that you purchased the car as seen in your photos, you're not going to find anything "factory" in the way of black stripes or transfers for the areas that you want stripes on :-? You might want to di...

Re: Need a Soft Fabric Style Dash Cover
As Ken duly noted, there's not a lot of options that will look good, I for instance have protected my dash with a custom fit carpet cover, which is not elegant at all and comes out for shows and whatnot :-" And as you duly noted, there are plastic covers that can be bonded over your existing da...

Re: Gauge question
Bert, presuming that your '81 has series 1 gauges, I have some input regarding this exchange 8) I installed a Euro 70 Liter fuel level gauge in mine and when full it doesn't go all the way to indicate full (70L) which I presume is due to the difference in the fuel tank capacity, which is larger in t...

Re: 1980 Power Steering - is mine working correctly?
So you're saying that it just requires more effort to turn the steering wheel than you are expecting, based on other models :-k Hard to say that there's anything actually "wrong" with your PS system, but you may want to service the hydraulics, here's a thread that shows what I did, and how...

Re: Favored Part Suppliers
For stock parts I like to use FCP Euro, and for aftermarket stuff, I usually go to ECS Tuning \:D/ Not sure about actual "dismantlers", but there are quite a few on Big Coupe that peddle parts on a regular basis :-" You could try Ralph in SoCal (his handle) or another guy in the Sandy...

Re: Thoughts about 225/45/17's
How wide are the wheels
Typically, 235/45 x 17" would be about the right outside diameter as original, so 225/45's would be a bit short as far as the OD would be concerned
But you do need to match the tire width with the wheel width as well

Good point Ken, better grounding was part of the many conversations, with both Klaus and Tommy :-k But the other issue that Klaus pointed out was that the LEDs should be colored to match, either amber or red in this case, and these are all white [-( I'm just gonna leave things as they are for now, w...

Re: LED lighting "upgrade"
Update, this has basically been a total bust ](*,) Once installed (I did get the dash indicator to work with the rectifier/diode bridge, BTW :-" ) I was experiencing very odd behavior, what I would describe as "current bleed" to lights that shouldn't be receiving any power :-? For ins...
