Buellrider - I looked at both those options and then found those Z4 headers on e-bay. I also noticed that Turner sells some nice looking, shorty Z4 headers in SS for about $600. They look like the best design for my purposes and I found some pics with rough measurements that seem to indicate the bol...

Ok, I suppose that being made of SS potentially opens up other decent options as those Z4 headers look good and are priced right. Beginning this week, I'll have easy access to the materials and equipment I need to either TIG up my existing headers or fabricate some slightly better ones from a low co...

Valid points GWL, but I am not trying to improve on the Euro headers. I am trying to end up with a cost effective replacement for stock US headers. I think we are all agreed that the stock US log manifolds are less than ideal (in terms of flow and design), are hard to find and aren't worth replacing...

Pleas help - Need M30 header specs.
Hello all, I am looking at some M30 equal length tube headers that I might be able to install onto my S38 engine. I realize it would require new flanges, but more important to me is spacing. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could measure their M30 manifold (preferably headers) and tell me wh...

I am reviving this thread, since I am now dealing with header issues. So when, where and how did you install your Euro headers, GWL? It was a NIGHTMARE to pull my stock headers and I actually cut the end off of the front log to get it to thread out, without removing engine parts. Did you actually ge...

Well, that's the kind of feedback I am looking for Brucey. I wish I had a TIG, but all I have is my MIG. I guess I'll just bevel the crack and hope for the best with cautious heat control. If I can get another year or two out of these headers, I could probably get some Euro's at that point. No-one l...

Welding headers - second opinions
So my stock headers are cracked almost clean through the #2 pipe right at the weld into the log. Part of the crack goes through the weld and part of it is the actual tube. I don't really have the spare cash to buy Euro headers right now, so I am thinking that the best option is for me to just weld i...

I agree with you on all points, Chris. Lifting a car can be risky business, especially whey you want significant lift. When I started thinking about a lift to fit my needs, all the lift systems I found were expensive and lifted in such a way that placing stands could be hampered by the lift itself. ...

Donudel - I went ahead and used the rear jack points with hockey pucks serving duty as soft contact points for the jack stands. At first I thought they were too far out and wouldn't be ideal, but I like them after all. Looks and feels solid and I got to work last night. I plan on using an improvised...

HELP!!!!! REAR JACKING POINTS!!!!!!
Help everyone. I have designed and built a car lift that allows me to lift the car straight up into the air and get about 30 inches of clearance under the car. I now need to support it with a full set of truck jack stands. The front jack points are easy to determine. I am using the unibody frame rai...

It's pretty basic and you should replace pads at the same time. 1. Jack up the car 2. Put towels around the brake fluid reservoir and pull the cap. If it overflows when you push the calipers back in, it will spill everywhere. 3. Take off the wheel 4. Pull the two bolts holding on the caliper. 5. Pul...

S38 and M88 mean totally different things. Unless you have a body on the phone that tells you without question that this chip is for the European M88 engine, I would not trust it. I say call again and keep asking until someone uses exactly the right words or realizes they sent you the wrong product....

From what I remember that is basically like the 2002 engine. Pull the plugs and just use a feeler gauge and bent nose pick to roll the eccentric when you have the cam lobe away from the tappet. I would buy a bunch of nuts and bolts as when I adjusted my 02 the first time, I stripped a bunch of em wh...
