Re: Tail light question

Thanks for the replies! My fog lights don't turn on the Euro fog light bulb in the rear. As much as I'd like to return the car to its original Euro configuration, using the red fog light is certainly not an option here. I like the idea of wiring up the Euro fog light as an additional brake light. Th...

Tail light question

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4551/38169570425_83ee59c6f8_m.jpg I have a pretty simple question. My '85 635 Euro has gone through the federalization process and my confidence in how the rear lights are wired is in question. In the picture above the blue circle represents where the current brake li...

Re: How to chage miles (km) in odometer?

Hi Dean, I spoke to the folks at Bavarian Restoration about doing the same to my recently purchased KM speedometer. They said they can do it but it destroys the od gears...so a new set is required. They are in the process of designing a new face that is like my current KM version but with mph in the...

FS '81 633CSi - Dallas - clean $6000

**NOT AFFILIATED*** and I have not seen the car myself. It looks like a very clean early model 6er priced right.

Re: Improved shifter feel 265/5

@brickwhite - Can the 318 tranny mount be used without any modification to the 2 holes the threaded ends go through? Also, did you add a nut on either end to secure it or just leave it floating?

Re: Improved shifter feel 265/5

@LarryM - Yes, What I was calling a rubber dampener is #10 on the diagram ("Stop Buffer"). Thanks for the tip on the possible substitute.

Have you considered using a solid AL shift arm instead of the shift plate?

Improved shifter feel 265/5

My 85 635CSi Euro has its original 265/5 transmission with the sheet metal style shift mechanism. A couple of years ago I replace all of the small hardware associated with the shift linkage including rubber dampener that the sheet metal support rests on. The shift feel was improved but still seemed ...

Re: Missing Economy Gauge wire - 85 Euro

Thanks for the feedback. My economy gauge worked when I purchased the car a couple of years ago and stopped working after I had a shop replace the odometer gears. I wish I had just done it myself as this shop proved to be one that likes to take short cuts. I recently swapped out a new gauge cluster(...

Missing Economy Gauge wire - 85 Euro

The economy gauge on my '85 635 Euro does not work and I've discovered the signal harness that plugs into back of the cluster that runs the economy gauge is missing. Re: Original Radio for 85 M635

My '85 Euro 635 came with a Becker Mexico normally found in Mercedes. I recently replaced it with a Continental/VDO modern unit(CDD7418UB-OR) with CD/USB/Bluetooth support. This unit is designed to look period and I think it is pretty close. The sound quality is much improved. The one catch I learne...

FOUND - WTB Early E24/E28 Seat Rails

Recently purchased a set of E21 recaro seats for my '85 635CSi. Looking for seat rails from an earlier E24(<84) or E28 that will work with the available recaro adapter brackets. Looking for rails in good working condition. I'm not 100% why my '85 seat rails won't work but was told they won't. Perhap...

Re: Door Buzzer operation?

My door buzzer was apparently added as part of the federalization process based on the shoddy nature of the wiring under the steering column. Hard to believe the PO put up with it for 20+ years considering it took me all of 10 minutes to remove it.

Re: Position of Fuel Gauge Needle - pics please

The published tank size is 70 Liters or 18.4 gallons but my experience is that there is about 1 gallon of unusable fuel in the bottom. Recently I drove my '85 (Euro) until it was sputtering when going uphill due to fuel starvation. I happened to be close to a gas station and was able to fill her up ...
