Improvise with blocks of wood, stack of wheels, rocks, concrete blocks, tree stumps ... Anything that will hold (keep) the car up in the air while you are under it.

You can use the BMW jack but only to raise and lower the car. Always block /jack stand the car when it is up in the air. It's your life at stake.

Sounds like a classic radiator problem. It can "flow" well but if the passages are coated with scale then your cooling effect is greatly reduced. I can't understand why a mechanic would install a rebuilt top end without at least recoring the radiator. The heater effect is telling you it ne...

Yes and don't drive it hard until you get a fresh tank of premium gas. Also lucky that it's not summer even though you don't really see summer up in SF.

Sweet!!!

Nice buy Jason. Welcome to BC and the total madness you are just beginning to suffer from. There is no "I'm getting better". There is no going back. You are now infected.

Nice score on the free Dinan parts.

I was very disappointed with the ending. I thought the Steelers would at least make a decent final drive for a TD. Congrats Nick.

I'm about an hour away from Palm Desert but I can't provide you any info on the car. There are actually many sharks in the SoCal region but that was probably the only one in Palm Desert. Welcome to the madness and it's good to see more young ones liking the shark.

CV joints do not last very long without grease. Not difficult to replace and readily available at your local NAPA store. Be wary of a bent output flange after a CV joint failure. Repair now or you'll cause more damage.

All you have to do is ask and I'll bring anything if I have it or can get it. I'd even bring a sweater to keep your avatar from getting cold but I fear I would get banished from BC for that kind of activity. I don't think I can stop by tomorrow as I have parts to drop off and I'm off to Berkeley to ...

Taking the initiative (basically sticking your neck out there for others to chop off) deserves recognition. Be safe, have fun, make new friends and take lots of pics. Ralph...

I will be taking a trip up to Northern Cali tomorrow to deliver parts. Anyone needing parts to travel up or down the state can get them transported safely. Sorry for the short notice but I just finalized my plans today. Thanks

Ryan, Gears are replaceable in the gearboxes. Too much grease in the way so I did not disassemble the gear but the entire assembly of inner gear and outer gear falls out when the case is opened. I'll send you a gearbox with a bad case and you can take what parts you need out of it. Unfortunately thi...

Hey Ryan,

Nice work but I would change out that bad gear as it can start the process of destroying your hinge. Pending successful implementation of proper memory functions, I can have one in the mail pronto and you should have it before you get the leather re-stitching done.

Like I mentioned, turn the steering to a point where there is adequate room for the separator. You will find a straight shot down from the engine compartment to the pitman arm connection.

This is one I have from a local auto parts store. I usually leave the nut part way on the shank to provide a larger pad to push against. Leave the nut at the same level as the end of the shank to create a large flat pad to push against. As Jose said, tighten to snug, add a 1/4 turn and smack with BF...

Stop!!

There should be no wire or any other material in there. It looks to be some sort of production debris has been left behind. Anything other than brake fluid in that bore will damage the walls of the MC. Send that pic to your supplier and ask them how to proceed. They better want to replace it. Ralph

Clean your ground terminations with a wire brush to make sure that is not your problem. They can be found near the battery, under the dash in a couple of places and also on the intake manifold. Good luck

Check the In-cabin temp sensor. I'm not sure how to check but that tells the system to open or close the heater valve. Located in the driver foot well and should have a vacuum line and a two wire connector attached to it.
