When the wrench was working correctly, didn't it get light when it clicked to the correct torque?
In my opinion, it torqued correctly without the click. You can buy a new wrench and retorque.
I doubt you did any damage to the arm.

Re: Under hood upgrades, finally...
I went through the same experience with the same padding. I used this product eventually that worked well with the original factory glue. Used about 2 quarts with a little less scraping then the other products. https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/product/3m-specialty-adhesive-remover/3m-buffing-polishi...

No splitters that I know of. Always being aware of the low air dam should keep it safe.
Easier said but it can be done. I'm lucky I guess, after 35 years of ownership
with both original 86 US running boards and then a 88 World bumper swap--
air dams never damaged.

Eldorado,
I'm curious as to why there's a need for a better, higher quality bar.
Is it that the bars available don't fit the towers perfectly, or
are the bars lacking in performance.

Take off the circular cover in the trunk to see the top
of your style sending unit. I don't think early cars had the
pre-fuel pump. I would think that 16121153050 is what you have.

I would read the voltage going to the valve first.
If it's 12v proceed on the bench.

I think Ralph is on the right track. My thought was the battery terminals, make sure they're cleaned and making good contact and it has 12+ volts.I had a no starter engagement when engine was @ operating temp. turned out to be the starter solenoid. The starting circuit did not have enough to overcom...

To add, to my above statement, last August I lucked out and bought a 1971 Continental MK3 with 40,016 miles. True, unrestored in every way. I replaced original front pads, rear shoes & wheel cylinders, brake hose, p/s hoses, tires from 18 yrs. ago and of course all the liquids changed. All other...
