Ralph
So after I drop out the shock with the center nut I then unscrew the 3 nuts holding the shock mount to the body?
Or vice versa?

I saw a youtube video where a mechanic explained the different grades of HF tools. Their "pro" line tends to be chrome-moly while the "non-pro" is vanadium. This is important in sockets, wrenches, etc.
But anyone with experience with Eastwood?

Rear shock replacement question

What is the best strategy for replacing the shocks and spring pads on my 84 633? Do I remove the rear seat or work in the trunk? If I pull down the glued trunk liner around the top of the shock tower, what adhesive do I use to reattach it? I am keeping everything stock.
Thanks,
Ken

Harbor Freight vs Eastwood (no, not Clint)

I just got my first Eastwood catalog and am comparing it against many items in the Harbor Freight Monthly flyer Basic items like a welding table (#61369) is $59.99 at HF while #14106 at Eastwood is $139.99 Welding equipment seems to be roughly comparable (but no idea as to quality as this is current...

Andy,
Over the blower motor, there is a piece of ribbed sheet metal as a cover. Between this sheet metal and the body structure there is a piece of neoprene as a gasket or filler piece. Did you replace that?

Also, where did your source the vinyl for the door card?

Did the same job myself recently. Any tough job is a good excuse to buy more tools. The keys to this sucker are 1. Flare nut wrenches to remove the hydraulic lines 2. A Stanley shopmate work bench which has a built in vice 3. a plumber's chain wrench that bites into the bomb 4. The best advice was t...

Jose,
Is the spade connector on the sensor deteriorating or the wiring? Mine have turned green and my t-stat housing has corroded a bit so if you can find a satisfactory parallel spade bit sensor, let me know.
However, I am a but reluctant to wrench out all the sensors unless I have a failure.

Andy, There is a neoprene gasket between the top of the blower shield (the black ribbed thing) and the body lip above it. What purpose does it serve? Also, did you lube the blower motor and is there a lube point or just squirt a bit of SAE30 on the shaft? I haven't taken mine down to that level but ...

There are several strategies that don't involve dropping the box: 1. Plan on several fluid changes which effectively dilutes the residual ATF left in the box - about 1,000 miles or less each time. Change the filter each time. 2. Rebuild the valve body so that it is both clean and any check balls, ga...
