I remember some years ago replacing hoses under the bonnet. As i replaced each one, the next in line which was now getting proper pressure would start to fail and that one would be replaced and so on. Hopefully if i get the suspension done then the wheels won't drop off or the engine break off its ...

I think (which is dangerous in itself) that on top of all the geopolitical implications, Putin saw an opportunity to embarrass Obama and took it. The two just flat-out hate each other.

And for once I fully agree....the US should stay the heck out of it.

That should be 5/16" hose as a replacement for 8mm. 3/8" would be 1/16" too big. 5/16" is 0.0025" smaller than 8mm.

8mm=0.31496"
5/16"= 0.3125"
3/8"=0.375"

Don't know about E24 pieces, but lately those of us with E36s have gotten some really poor parts under the Meyle brand name. Like lower control arm bushings failing within a few thousand miles. Your experience may vary.

Greg, none of the M30-based engines had belt drive cams. All of them are chain drive. Some are double-chain.

It was the M20s that had belts, and they were the demise of untold numbers of otherwise excellent power plants. :(

ALL E24s use the same size bolts. 12 x 1.5, just as Turner's website says. Wheel type makes no difference, although some wheels take a slightly longer bolt. Your BBS's should use the regular length bolts.

I have one of those, and tried it. No dice. The "grabber" I have (2, in fact) is too large to fit through the gap. Believe me, I was scrambling from about 9 PM until midnight, trying every tool and magnet-on-a-stick I have to get that plate out. I finally gave up and made a replacement pla...

What he said. ^ The problem with mine was the plate/screws wouldn't move far enough back to pull the door flush when closed. I was going to slightly enlarge/oblong the holes to move the plate/striker a little further inward. This was before I knew the latch was supposed to have the little "thum...

The "nuts" aren't nuts. It's a plate with tapped holes, and if you back off the screws far enough, the plate will fall into the nether regions of the chassis, never to be seen again (ask how I know #-o ). You only have to remove the rear side panel and reach in to retrieve it. Not a diffi...

Difficult? No, just a lot of steps, and a lot of pieces that have to come off that appear to have nothing to do with holding the cluster in....until you want to take it out. Think of the as the Teutonic version of a Chinese puzzle.

Sonofabeach, I can't believe someone hasn't grabbed that yet. If she were about 2300 miles closer I'd make a serious effort to raise the $$$ and buy it myself. A road trip of that magnitude isn't in the cards, and shipping would put it in the "not so great" a deal category. Beautiful car, ...

I own four pre-2000s BMWs and maintain two more. EVERY one had starter problems at around 150k miles, so judge for yourself. The very first thing I had to do on this 633 was change the starter solenoid to get the starter to work when we brought it home at 146k. I wish I'd have replaced the bendix at...
