Be careful what you wish for. Too sticky or gooey can be a problem. The ideal caulk will need to be flexible to withstand the vibration and insensitive to both hot (while running) and cold (while parked in the winter) and not attack the wire insulation. PU might do the trick and Sikaflex makes a wid...

BuzzBomb,
That's great! Please add some location and vehicle info to your profile or signature. Some of our members also lend specialized tools that are used once (or twice) in a lifetime job that saves a lot of time and effort but unfortunately costs toooo muchoooo dineroooo.

Props to Todd for letting me know that the parts I wanted were really fragile and toasty. We went ahead with it so I knew what to expect. Glad to know that our community has great people like him.

Voltage regulator failure, trunk light that does not go out, underhood light that doesn't go out. Another strategy is to check energy flow as you remove successive relays and fuses. Also, you may need to check the grounds to be sure the battery is charging properly. Find the ETM Electrical Troublesh...

Car Chaser Idiot

Flipped thru the channels and saw Car Chasers for a bit. He went to a swap meet and talked to a guy with a Euro 635 asking $15k. 85,000 miles. Offered $8k. Owner was not at all pleased after a test drive and a little chit chat. Deal never got done.

I just checked BMW of Southatlanta and the supply pipe (16121178468) is about $36 and the return pipe (16121177267) is about $46. I guess it has more bends? These are for my 84-633

Workshop Methods

Hi all, I suggested to Brian to test run a new section so that we can learn from each other some of the skills and find the resources to do restoration and maintenance work on our ageing 6'ers. By that I mean bodywork, welding, painting, electronics and some of the mechanical stuff. So if you can fi...

Is the gasket under the oil fill cap in good shape and not leaking. You can test this by wrapping a few turns of vinyl electrical tape around the whole cap to seal it. Simple stuff..

Jose,
I saw that wrench, but I thought that while it is long for leverage, it is really thin where you grab it.
But I'm a fiend for tools (tool-whor*?)

Could it be a vacuum leak elsewhere so that the added air flow from dipstick and oil fill cap had not impact as it should have?

Is a smoke test possible to see where it may be pulling in air? Light up a Cohiba to make it worthwhile.

Ralph,
I have a spring compressor from my days owning a 71 240Z (sure wish I still had it) If you think bimmers are rust buckets, the Japanese didn't have a clue about corrosion. Wheel wells and rotted floor doomed it.

Thanks for the plan on the shocks.
