Cruise control

Hi Carrie, I've got a guy looking out for a cruise control system for me.I've sent him a printout from the parts CD and there is a lot of bits. It's not just the control box and cables but all the associated brackets etc. BMW used to do a retro-fit kit but that is no longer available (?450.00)What it...

Window switch

The one touch operation is done by a relay not by the switch. If you can find the relay I would like the part no.as I can then sort out a wiring circuit for the 6.Thanks. Ron.

Coolant leak

Dave, There is a filter inside the heater valve that clogs up.If you take the valve off the car and undo the four screws the valve comes apart. The filter is like a mesh cone.

H/L Adjustment

The h/l adjustment system is a fluid filled sealed system. As you turn the adjuster it pushes the fluid down the pipe which moves the fancy valve on the h/l. Turn it the other way and it reverses. The system is sealed at manufacture and I have tried various ways to refill and bleed it without success....

Pad change

Easy job Colin. Just knock the two pins out that hold the pads in place (they go through the lugs in the pads and across a spring clip). With a lever you should be able to move the pads against the pistons and once you've got clearance, lift the pads out.Might be wise to take some fluid out of the mas...

Handbrake cables

No they are not exposed cables. The inner cables run inside outer sheaths and you have to change the whole lot unfortunately. What's wrong with your existing cables? Ron.

Handbrake cables

Hi Carrie, You don't need to take the gearbox out.The job itself is a PITA to do as there is a fair bit to dismantle. From what I remember the cables were about ?30.00 each but check with Europarts/Motormec etc. It's a fiddly job as the rear discs and handbrake mechanism inside need dismantling. The ca...

One touch windows

Thanks for the link Bob,but I don't intend spending $130.00 plus postage for the relay.I'm sure a relay from a later model could be used as most of the later ones had one-touch windows. It is just a case of sorting the wiring out. Thanks again.Regds.Ron.

Engine bay parts

I used a 1" abrapad and fine discs and then polished with very fine scotchbrite and alloy polish.Total time for stripes and logo about 15 mins. As an afterthought I had the 4 spring-clips and the battery hold down plate and L-shaped bolt chrome plated.Looks nice!!

Crystal 635

I've got two of the glass crystal models and I've always wondered if the 635 was the only model that the factory (in the former E.Germany) ever made? If you have never seen one, it is a very impressive model that has been sandblasted on the internal surface to give a sort of 3D effect for the interi...
