Re: M6 Leather Dash Restoration Advice

/quote]. Actually I sent him just the bare pan. So it was molded from the underlayment up Bert, did you take the hard vinyl off the dash yourself? Did it come off without destroying the foam underneath? Or did it damage the foam and you had to remove both? I'd be very impressed if they (JD) actuall...

Re: M6 Leather Dash Restoration Advice

About 3-4 years ago a group buy for recovering in vinyl was put together. I can't remember the name of the place that did it, but they are in Oregon. I found them to begin with via a google search. The price was less than $800 I think tere had to be 7 guys in.. The work was well done, BUT, they did...

Re: My second 6er: steal of a deal

Damn, killer deal! I can tell you're smitten with the car, I would be too. I like the red roundel on back, and now I remember why I bought that same spoiler off ebay a couple years ago, it looks great.
Cheers!

Re: M6 Leather Dash Restoration Advice

Thanks Dean, That's pricey alright and any of the guys up here would have to order the film as I'm sure they don't stock it, so I'm sure it would command a premium. It would be worth it on a nice daily driver. I'm in for a radiator as of last week, so it may be time to dig in again. I ordered a rad ...

Re: ECU not grounding fuel pump relay

I just realized this thread was left unresolved. Problems ended up being a bad, 3 month old crank sensor and a toasted dist cap and rotor. Crank sensor not reporting to the ecu results in the ecu not firing the injectors or grounding the fuel pump relay.

Re: M6 Leather Dash Restoration Advice

I've got a restored dash (vinyl) from Just Dashes, and one of the things I did to protect it is have the windshield tinted with 3M Crystalline film. I have the 90% film, which is virtually invisible, but it reflects 99% of UV and IR. I plan to get the other glass done, too, with the 50% film, but t...

Re: M6 Leather Dash Restoration Advice

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on one of those stitched covers also. For the money it looks to be a good pattern as Grunt said. I just got sample swatches from them, the leather seems pretty good, thin as expected for this application but I also asked for a sample in Alcantara. I got one but no...

AC switch, center vents stuck

Weather cooled off, driving with windows down and got the bright idea to turn off the AC switch. [-X Now the center dash vents are closed and when trying to open them with the rotary controls, the control only moves a short bit and it feels like there is something behind the dash that's binding. The...

Re: Twilight Zone Temperature Gauge

Slofut; Yes, it absolutely is a great ride. Does require a bit more baby-sitting than the 635, but it's worth it. They aren't really as complicated as some people like to make them out to be and surprisingly, there really are still some bargains floating around. Example, I paid $3500 for mine 2 yea...

Re: Restore Leather Seats Advice

Personally, I like the aged patina on those seats! Impossible to get that any other way and it's very nice and even. Not to mention the fronts still have the padded look and aren't shrunk tight and flat like most. Have the tears fixed and Leatherique them as well as you can and use 'em. You going to...

Hey Phoenix,
Did you whack your dash yet? I'll bet you did 8-[
Use some finesse and it'll be ok, but I'm just wondering if you got a lead on this problem.

Re: Twilight Zone Temperature Gauge

Yea, just whack the side of the instrument pod with your palm being careful not to damage the dash pad. It'll prob pop back into correct position ...verifying that the cluster board is getting flaky. Many threads on repair but the first attempt doesn't always get it done. #-o Just noticed you have a...

Re: Washed Motor Now Big Problems 1980 635CSi Euro

I'm in over my head on speculating here, but could the cold start valve not shut down when it should? Yes! Cold start switch closes circuit to ground to energize the c/s injector. C/s switch could be shorted at the terminals or stuck closed internally. I'd unplug the switch and crank it. Also, pull...

My center console is wide open right now so I figure it is a good time to see where it is and maybe take it out for repair

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Speaker replacement day again for the M635CSi; the second-hand Pioneer TS-1660's with the quirky adjustable ("Tilt-Axial" according to PIoneer) tweeter and mid-range were well past their best and I spied a set of NOS Pioneer TS-1690's with the same Tilt-Axial mechanism but this time 4-way...

Re: Cranks, but no start, then decides to start

Wiz, get a spark checker tool from the parts house. Plug it inline on a plug wire and crank it over to see if there's actually a consistent spark. Have to know this 100% for sure before you can proceed further. No spark go left, spark go right kind of thing. Otherwise you're blindly throwing parts a...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Changed the water pump on the '88 635 today. Plans were to change the pump and put the adjustable voltage reg in, then pull the rad in my Sierra and clean it, change the p/s pump and change the windshield washer pump seal. But as my ass was dragging about ten feet behind me today, I got started late...
