Re: Favored Part Suppliers

Great list. For tune-up stuff, RockAuto is a good option for filters, plugs, caps, rotors etc etc True, but be careful to watch shipping costs. My experience with them is that they"make up" some of their discount price by charging really high shipping. If it's a part that requires the ret...

Re: No Power, Running Super Rich

As has been suggested many replies back, check the fuel pressure at the rail. You are playing "throw new parts at it" while ignoring that basic test (if it hasn't been done). Just replacing the FPR doesn't guarantee that the fuel pressure is now correct. Is the vacuum line to the FPR intac...

Re: LED lighting "upgrade"

I've got a suggestion. Just as an experiment run an independent ground from the turn signal socket(s) to the chassis ground, then try the blinkers. The phantom blinking is a sign the factory ground from the light is compromised. You see this on boat and utility trailers, where a running light goes o...

Re: ABS light on

The speedometer (which drives the odometer indirectly) is electronic. As to tooth count, I haven't a clue. You will have to open up the drive and count them. Garagistic has instructions on how to do that. Odometergears probably does, too.

Re: ABS light on

Odometergears or Garagistic for the "mileometer" fix. Some folks here don't like the Garagistic gears, claim they wear out prematurely. I've used them in five odometers of my own and half a dozen that I've fixed for others. They all worked and continue to work many thousands of miles later...

I haven't replaced either one in my E24s, but I used Dynamat in my E30s. Worked great.

The filter in the bottom of the reservoir may be clogged.

Hard braking brings on the hard steering, correct?

Re: Hard steering

Sounds to me like your power steering pump isn't working properly. The brake system works off the power steering pump instead of engine vacuum like most power brake systems. If the pump isn't generating full pressure not only will the steering require more effort, the brakes will be noticeably weake...

Re: No Spark 85 635csi - TRIED EVERYTHING

The crank sensor at the front serves no function except when using the original BMW shop diagnostic computer. I don't know if you were referring to that sensor or the one on the bellhousing. The engine will run without the front mounted sensor.

Re: LED lighting "upgrade"

I got the LEDs from a couple of eBay sellers several years ago. Neither of the sellers (no doubt Chinese with US based shippers) are still on eBay, at least not under the same screen names. Some were supposed to be "no warning" lights that don't trip the "tail/brake/turn signal out&qu...

Re: LED lighting "upgrade"

I converted both my E30s and the M3 E36 to LEDs. They were so bright in the turn signal positions that they washed out the amber tint lenses. I had to switch to amber tinted LEDs! I had the same problem with the flashers in that I had to go to electronic units rather than the stock electro-mechanica...

The inner face of the flange is as forged. The outer face is machined perpendicular to the hub and drive. Is it a mistake? I don't know.

It's called "mission creep". You set out to replace the roundel on the boot lid and end up rebuilding the entire rear suspension just because you were there already.
