Re: Need a Soft Fabric Style Dash Cover
As Ken duly noted, there's not a lot of options that will look good, I for instance have protected my dash with a custom fit carpet cover, which is not elegant at all and comes out for shows and whatnot :-" And as you duly noted, there are plastic covers that can be bonded over your existing da...

Re: How to refinish this type of bench top...
Thanks gents  This bench top was already existing, and it will likely get more abuse, no projects currently lined up but something will come up sooner than later  The lighting I added was also LED, kitchen under cabinet type, in addition to the fluorescent one I installed years ago :-&qu...

Re: Gauge question
Bert, presuming that your '81 has series 1 gauges, I have some input regarding this exchange 8) I installed a Euro 70 Liter fuel level gauge in mine and when full it doesn't go all the way to indicate full (70L) which I presume is due to the difference in the fuel tank capacity, which is larger in t...

Re: How to refinish this type of bench top...
Finally coming back to this project, as recently completed refinishing this workbench =D> I also took the opportunity to add a couple of features, including 2X AC power outlets, more lighting and an Akro-Bin rack complete with a dozen bins for handy access \:D/ After cleaning off the bench, removing...

Re: 1980 Power Steering - is mine working correctly?
So you're saying that it just requires more effort to turn the steering wheel than you are expecting, based on other models :-k Hard to say that there's anything actually "wrong" with your PS system, but you may want to service the hydraulics, here's a thread that shows what I did, and how...

Re: No Power, Running Super Rich
Just for clarification, my '80 has an O2 sensor, first year as this was also the first year for the cat
Wish I had some input regarding your problem, but I'll keep thinking about what could cause this issue
I've never had to deal with this type of problem

Re: Favored Part Suppliers
For stock parts I like to use FCP Euro, and for aftermarket stuff, I usually go to ECS Tuning \:D/ Not sure about actual "dismantlers", but there are quite a few on Big Coupe that peddle parts on a regular basis :-" You could try Ralph in SoCal (his handle) or another guy in the Sandy...

Re: Thoughts about 225/45/17's
How wide are the wheels
Typically, 235/45 x 17" would be about the right outside diameter as original, so 225/45's would be a bit short as far as the OD would be concerned
But you do need to match the tire width with the wheel width as well

Welcome to the madness \:D/ I see that you attended PSF this past weekend, while I was involved in much of the planning, alas I was not able to make the event this year :( Tough times right now with one of our dogs, we did a FaceTime during happy hour Friday and that just made me sadder :-? I have an aftermarket keyless lock setup and the wiring under the dash is a nightmare

Re: LED lighting "upgrade"
Good point Ken, better grounding was part of the many conversations, with both Klaus and Tommy :-k But the other issue that Klaus pointed out was that the LEDs should be colored to match, either amber or red in this case, and these are all white [-( I'm just gonna leave things as they are for now, w...

Re: LED lighting "upgrade"
Update, this has basically been a total bust ](*,) Once installed (I did get the dash indicator to work with the rectifier/diode bridge, BTW :-" ) I was experiencing very odd behavior, what I would describe as "current bleed" to lights that shouldn't be receiving any power :-? For ins...

Re: Sport Seat Rails / Tracks - $150
OK, let's review  Ralph, if I read your response correctly, I can use these, and they will also lower my seat height, which is something that I wanted to do for quite a while :-" In fact, I was considering custom made flat rails, as I would also like to see if it's possible to make it so ...

Re: Sport Seat Rails / Tracks - $150
With photo this time, and you can see that I do indeed have the raised floor, along with the E21 320 iS Recaro factory mounting brackets :-" If I didn't have so much going on right now, like PSF in a couple of weeks, I would pull the seat again (both probably :-? ) so that I can figure out why ...

Re: Sport Seat Rails / Tracks - $150
Well, I have a series 1, MY80, so I don't think it's like E28 :-k I used the mounting brackets that came with the seats and just had to slot the mounting holes 1/4" for everything to line up  The mounting brackets have sort of a "U" shaped cross section, if that helps :-" I...

Ralph, would my E21 Recaros fit on these rails
My drivers side won't tilt forward, had the seat out once but wasn't able to figure out why
Dale, I wouldn't need both, but if I can't figure mine out, I may be in touch

Depends
Euro models work with the driver's door open without the key in the ignition, but I'm not sure about UK versions
So just open your driver's door and give it a whirl
