Hi Greg, Things are going really well. Thank you so much for the lead up. Good to know the supplier. The shocks were good after having them checked. I ended up installing new mounts, new bump stops where applicable, new dust boots and new hardware (bolts, nuts etc). I took the opportunity to also tr...

M635 with M88 engine

A Euro should absolutely have an M88 and that is an M88 valve cover, which won't bolt onto an S38. The VIN lookup must be squirrelly. Jose Almost would seem that way but... The vin lookup is right from BMW centernet Both my M635's show a S38 in the vin decode also. Seems the decode has no clue of t...

they are the stock M635/M6 bilsteins Old PN; B46-0725 New part number; 24-007252 The valving and the stroke are different from the bilstein sport shock, and of course the spring diameter is larger than that found on the other E24/2 (E28 chassis) shocks. You can use one of the other fitments provide...

Thank you so much to Dave, Chris and Brucey for your replies, it helps a lot. On my way to order the bumpstops.

Brucey, I still would like to identify the shock absorbers I have at the back, they have the numbers 5210725W00 in case I need to replace them too.

Thanks again an best regards, Orlando

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the reply. That is assuming that I have the original shock absorber and I don't know if I do. The part number in RealOEM for the absorber doesn't correspond to the numbers printed on the absorber itself.

I've actually seen your M6 a few times in the city (on Kent St.) around 4pm-5pm in the last year or so. Need to chat to you about where you got your wheels done (Artarmon??...

You are doing a tremendous job in restoring this car, keep up the good work. I restored mine and there are some parts that were very difficult to source, specially those rubber things that are common in our cars. If yours are not too bad, it is amazing how they can be brought back to life with a bit...

BTW this fix -i.e. bad solder joints- is quite DIY-able; if you can use a soldering iron, you can fix these ECUs if this is the fault. Glad it is all sorted! BTW I agree that making the mixture right is a good thing to do; I'm not 100% convinced that the springs weaken in the AFM over time, but it ...
