Re: Alternative to Miller Performance for a high performance MAF
Now that you mention it.... I stumbled across a discontinued "universal" AFM -> AMF conversion that looks REALLY interesting. https://splitsec.com/product/universal-maf-kit-3-0-a What I like about that splitsec unit, is that it doesn't try to be all things to all people. It is ONLY meant t...

Re: Rare Parts Thread!
Did you protoype it in PLA? You could trim it easily if you did.
Once it's right, use a stronger filament. I bought some HIPS to experiment with. I have read it makes for really strong parts that can handle the heat of an engine bay.

Re: What Oil do you Use in your 6'er
Well then, I've posted scientific articles numerous times on this subject, inclusive of empirical oil sample testing that shows just how good the deisel engine oils are for use in regular ICE engines. Bottom line is that Rotella SuperT gives you the same high ZDDP as premium oils (Redline, Royal Pur...

Re: Electric winch?
Hey emac, I have dollies too, but the way the tires sit, the casters stick out too far to the inside, and the lift is too wide to fit in between the dollies. Combined with a car that is too low to roll onto the lift itself, that means I have to align the car, then roll it onto the ramps. Power enoug...

Re: Clutch pedal, master and slave cylinder
Something I haven't tried, but that I think would work well is using a vacuum bleeder at the reservoir. The idea would be to vacuum bleed at the slave cylinder, then fashion an adapter from a spare brake reservoir cap so you could apply vacuum at the master cylinder. A bleeder doesn't create huge va...

Re: AC Clutch Replacment
Hi Scott,
Yes, the clutch can be replaced. You could find documentation in the manuals section of the forums. The Bosch pump on our cars is older, so it is going to be on many cars. Here's a link for a how-to video outlining the process on Youtube.

I bought a replacement from Drive Shaft Specialists for my M6. I have been completely happy with it. They sent the wrong shaft the first time, and had the correct replacement to me in 2 days. Even their boo-boo showed good customer service. I would definitely buy another driveshaft from them. Jose

Re: Valve Seals
If compression is good, and you are confident that you ONLY need to do valve seals, you shouldn't need to take off the head. There are a variety of techniques you can use to leave the head on, and replace the valve seals. One very old school approach is to feed some rope into the cylinder on the com...

From what I recall, the Dinan and Conforti are pretty much the same. They also benefit from upgrading to an A100 (IIRC) exhaust gear out of the S14.

Re: S38 M6 US spec converting to Euro headers
The pipes fit perfectly to the engine, and the smaller shields are find. However, the one big existing heat shield CANNOT be wedged back into place when the pipes are mounted. You end up with a couple of options. Also, before starting your install, you absolutely have to break loose the motor mounts...

Re: Rear ABS Sensors!! Oh MY!
That's a great piece of info. Phillip. All the sensors are getting harder to find, and more expensive to boot. I wonder if we might want to make a sticky with exactly this kind of unique supplier information in the parts for sale section. Maybe we could submit a vendor who has that one or two hard t...

Re: Conforti chip...thumbs up
My 87 came to me with a Conforti, so I have never known it to run anything but awesome. When I added Euro headers, and an A100 exhaust gear, the seat-o-the-pants dyno. said it picked a little more power, and pulls smoother/harder when it gets above 3500 RPM. Although, the end result is not coming al...

That is a beautiful example with what looks like a pristine original dash. Treat the leather on that dash regularly and ALWAYS use a sunshade. Protect that leather, or it WILL shrink up on you.
