I'm in 2 minds whether I enter the competition too - I looked at the judging criteria and they look at your car's build date. Believe it or not my car doesn't actually have one lol. Though I've got a letter from BMW which actually states all is above board and likewise the RTA is happy, but still.. ...

Good to hear, although I may join anyway: there's member benefits at my preferred BMW specialists. :D I'll see if I can turn up to that one, gives me incentive to really give my car a deep detail. Anyone considering putting their car up for judging? The online joining option's now working, I've jus...

I've seen an old Merc 560 SEC that has a custom, modern interior, thousands spent on ICE and it looks aweome. I've thought it'd be pretty cool to do to a 6er with a buggered interior...

As per some PMs tonight on the ECCA forum, not everyone in NSW is going to be able to make it to QLD in November, however the BMW Drivers Club NSW is organising a Show-N-Shine on Sunday Oct 8th at Silverwater Park and Paul Humpage has suggested that as many 6ers come along as possible. The club welc...

Hi Mark,

Hope things are back on track healthwise etc and thanks for the update.

Are the 6 Series Register or Queensland BMW Club formally anouncing the event? Any more info would be much appreciated!

No wonder you were all late to the top of the mountain, it must have taken you half an hour to line up the cars so well, normally they're just bodged in anyway how :D You know it seems the only people who were interested in Aussie motor racing history were the 6er owner/drivers so as Iain said, by ...

The airfoil shape would generate lower pressure, which would have the effect of sucking hot air (and brake dust) away from the brakes.

Meanwhile, a trip up and down the A41 at roughly 50mph shows that the steering control arms definitely need replacing..... http://www.bmw-board.co.uk/smileys/bigcry.gif Why do you say this - do you get a vibration at this speed? I've had other cars which've had a vibration through the steering whee...

Frank, Paul and I were talking about this yesterday, looking at the possibility of putting cars and ourselves on the train rather than risk stonechips etc. Sounds soft, I know but at least you can have a drink and a chat along the way. Anyway, as this is kinda getting close, is anyone else interested?

Anything that's a one day event is fine by me. Although I do find if we drive further, I regret not taking more photos or getting to know the cars & drivers better. Me too. There were countless great photo opportunities and the camera was tucked behind the drivers seat and I was too busy steeri...

It has the headlamp wash system, which no Aussie car should have come with. Why? I've seen others with the washer system which were Aussie delivered cars. It has chrome mirrors, no rear head rests. No electric seats, no elipsoidal head lights. It could just be over time, things were replaced and ch...

From what I've read world bumpers are on all cars Nov '87 and later. I wouldn't be surprised if the Aussie delivery cars are a bit different as some of the ADRs are a little bit funny (to say the least). I think the L6 all leather dash was a USA only thing, and was only for a short time anyway as t...

...What gives it away as a Highline?.... The "mini US Federal" bumpers for a start. The flush-fitting projector lens front fog lights in the front airdam. The 27 square metres of cow in the interior, including the dashboard tops.... You should have the ellipsoid headlights, but it looks l...

I'd love to go to a Sharkfest! Living in Canberra, I'll suggest Canberra! Its kinda central, decent climate, pretty good roads here, not too many sixers though. Might get a better turnout in a major city. Where's the 'home' of BMW in Australia? Melbourne? Yeah BMW Australia is based in Melbourne. N...

For what it's worth, I think the headlight adjustment has been converted to a manual system, so I'm not sure if that means a non-standard headlamp has been fitted.

Interesting to note that it's a "Highline" edition, but does not have the ellipsoid projector headlights.... What gives it away as a Highline? I don't know much about different models to be honest, but I've seen one and it had a different interior - ie tweeters in the door trim, contrasti...

Hi Iain, You know I'm interested :) Regarding the West coast - given that I'm from W.A. I'd really love to suggest driving your car across but you're better off flying and hiring a car. Or if you must have your car with you, put it on the train. Not worth the stone chips, risk of broken windscreens ...

Another Aussie 6er

Hi, I've been a member since mid-January this year, around the time I picked up my '89 model 635 but I think this is my first post. Here's some pics of the car after it was detailed last weekend. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e350/hoadie/Detailing%20at%20Franks/DSC05480.jpg http://i42.photobucke...
