Welcome to the fold. I scared the behoobies out of myself the first time I had to panic stop on the freeway in my M6. I have 235/40-18's on the front and it just YANKED itself back to a stop. I am quite impressed at how aggressively the M's stop. If you aren't, the you need to do some work on those ...

Downloadable specifications manual

I found a file sharing site that lets me upload large enough files that I can share my scanned specifications manual. Has specs. for M10, M20, M30, S14 and S38 engines along with all the torque and spec. numbers for the 6 series. Try the link below. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CS2LRC5X If it lets m...

I think I am going to use NAPA M6, since mine is the only M6 in town. Maybe you can use your town or a local landmark/feature.

It should definitely go even at 11. It would just be slow. Have you tried pulling the terminals altogether and jumping it straight from the battery?

Cibie makes some super bright replacements, but if you just buy a sealed beam 5 3/4" bulb it'll fit right in. A better thought is to buy a modern H3 type replacement bulb in the right size. The housing is pretty standard. You just might have to rewire the plug if you go non-standard on the new ...

DOH! I corrected my thoughtless typing. As far as I know, hypoid means it takes higher pressure without breakdown, but the key is that the oil be true GL-4 so that it has the proper lubricants for the brass syncros.

It's about protecting the brass syncro's. Use ONLY GL-4 in the gearbox. I avoided synthetic since my M6 came with regular originally and in some cases I hear people say synthetic leads to leaks.

I heard ya Clayjo, NY Jets. Ouch. When I first discovered basketball it was Lakers or Celtics fan in the 80's. The Lakers were easy to like in the showtime era, but Boston was ugly gangly and all heart with serious skill. I appreciated that so they grew on me. Been a fan since then. So in order it's...

My setup is acceptable to me. The drone is a problem with high gear, in town driving, but I don't so much mind it. Above 2500 rpm, it quiets down and the road noise from the tires is about equal to the exhaust tone. Mind you that I haven't added dynamat anywhere so I could GREATLY reduce in cabin no...

I have the same basic setup, but there is a "glasspack" just after the cat. It reduces the rumble and sounds great. However, there is a strong resonance at 2500 RPM that can just about drown out the stereo.

To remove you must pull the rear wheel and jack up the car. Remove the lower bolt connecting the shock to the control arm and separate the two. Then remove the rear seats and take off the three nuts holding the shock to the car. It should drop right out. Hold it securely (I use a vice) and use the s...

It was a nice little get together with E36/E46 M3's in traditional, turbo and supercharger flavors. YUM! Mine was the only old school ride, but would hold its own against the E36 M3's as I have it chipped with intake and exhaust upgrades. Maybe we can all go to Concord next time. Yay Wing Stop!! Jose

Meet today 6/11/08 in Vallejo, Ca. at 8:00 PM.

There is a group from Bimmerforums that is meeting today in Vallejo at the Wingstop on Admiral Callaghan. I posted in another thread, but wanted to make sure and give maximum visibility.

SS can gall in aluminumum and strip out threads. If the nuts seize on the stud, then that could make the studs back out and potentially damage threads. Heat cycling makes things worse. I like using stock replacement studs and copper nuts on engines. That way any galling damages the nuts, but they st...

Bay Area cars and coffee?

Hey all, I am talking to some of the BimmerForums folks and we are looking at getting together some time soon. I have proposed June 7th in Vallejo for either WingStop or Starbucks fueled revelry over on Admiral Callaghan, right by Discovery Kingdom. Hell, if people want to toss their cookies, I even...
