Re: Rear Spring Top Mount Angle Question
I have to add - I happen to have the e12 on stands sans suspension so I had a serious look. There are 2 sets of holes in my 81 e12 also. I didn't realize that was the case. The strut top fits in all possible positions of the two different sets of holes. Meaning orientation is not specific. BMW would...

The silver relay would not have been done to your car but the coolant temp sensor test does apply. Same location on the thermostat housing but may be different ecu input terminal

The TSB referenced in this thread provides the answer

As Bobbo pointed out, this would not apply to your series 1 car

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls
I too have a rich running condition on my 1979 635csi, and would like to conduct the sensor test that Ralph suggests. The suggestion is to check resistance between the sensor post and a ground to obtain a measurement that is then compared to the measurement at the ECU. It looks to me like the senso...

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls
No Song. This sensor (CTS) provides input to the ecu for running conditions at startup or while at running temp.
Symptoms you described indicated fuel supply cut off.
The cut wire results in poor running from too much fuel as the ecu defaults to full rich to prevent engine damage

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!
Good to know you're doing OK during these storms. I don't think it's letting up anytime soon but good luck getting that 30 minute lull between downpours. Winds are whipping so stay clear of tall trees I'm not sure about the effects of the reference sensors on fueling. They feed the ecu and that's th...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!
Check your main relay. Bypass it with the double wire bypass per Bruceys post The jumper bypasses all ecu functions and provides power to the fuel pumps directly. Weird that you can make the pump run when the car is not running but doesn't work otherwise. I know you recently replaced it but somethin...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!
Try letting the car run off the jumper only. If it runs then the relay is the issue. Not specifically a bad relay but possibly the electrical connections for the relay. Getting continuity to ground does not mean it's good enough for the load created by the relay If the issue persist with the jumper ...

Re: Wiring (electric) seat harness on the 89
There are additional wires under the seat and they may be for the seat heaters. Best to look under your seat and see what's there then research wiring diagrams to see what they're for
I've never come across an e24 with seat heaters so I'm not well versed on the system

Look to other models Tommy. E30, E32, E34 also had seat heaters optional or included in the "cold weather package"

I agree you should check the headlight switch. Unfortunately later series 2 switches are different from series 1 so Dmitry can't help with his. I do have several spares and they are known to fail. However spraying contact cleaner may help so try that first. The suggestion about bad grounds is also a...

Welcome to BC. Color is Sobelbraun?? The 82 head is an upgrade from the 79 and earlier crack prone heads. Be happy about that. As mentioned trans is an overdrive unit That B32 may not be original. Look for numbers on the flat spot where the starter is mounted. Seven digit number should be the VIN of...

Re: E34 Steering Box in E24/. Need E34 Pump?
Should not be necessary to swap out pumps. There is a 110 bar pump and a 120 bar pump. The e24/28 uses the same basic pump as the e32/34 without the SLS.
