Re: Turbocharging a 628csi
Any m30 is perfect for turbocharging. To do it well it’s pretty costly excersise. If you can turn wrenches yourself and are resourceful well it may be less costly.

Re: Shrick 284/280 Cam in M30B35
To gain compression you can also use a thin 027thou mls gasket. I guess piston to valve clearance can be an issue. Perhaps cut in some valve reliefs in your pistons. I had this done in my m10 in my 2002. Got compression from 8.9:1 To 10:1 by skimming head, valve reliefs and 027 Mls. Valve reliefs we...

Re: Driveline upgrade M635csi
Well got car back and after a few adjustments including proper phasing of the driveshaft to remove annoying hitting the body. Firstly gearing feels much better. Nice to have a few legs in first and 2nd. The 3.23 combined with the dogleg seems to be a good combination. Rebuilt shocks feel great. The ...

Re: Driveline upgrade M635csi
I’ll report soon on the kMac bushes. I used them on the e34 and it totally transformed the way it handled. I thought Of a taller diff as I had a 3.15, but it told me that first had going going to peak around 76kmh and 2nd around 117 or so. I think though the 3.23 with a tight functioning lsd will be...

Driveline upgrade M635csi
After I reckon a 4 year hiatus I’m finally doing some works on my m635csi. some time ago my 280 gearbox failed so I quickly replaced it with the dogleg box and a changed the diff to a more reasonable 3.46. Clutch has been slipping past few years progressively getting worse to the point it needs to b...

Re: Tachometer error after full cluster restoration
I needed up installing a Dakota digital tacho adjuster as mine was doing same. I think this phenomenon can be caused by the check control oil reset thingy.
Btw it fixed the lower reading tacho perfectly.

It looks like on the scetch that u are planning to use the oem panel filter box. If so U may/will need some sort of flex as the engine moves under acceleration.

Re: E24 getrag 6 Spd retrofit.
I can’t see myself using a t56. Ratios are all wrong for e24 with m88/3 and it would require a silly 4.45:1 diff which would make first and 2nd very short. Besides I have a t56 and it’s very agricultural to use compared with the 420s. I have 2 other cars with 420s boxes and the change very nice. One...

Can’t see myself using a tremec. I like the ratios on the 420g and I have the 6cyl s50 version. I don’t thing it will be too hard once the bellhousing from a wrecked auto can be sought.

E24 getrag 6 Spd retrofit.
Hey chaps. Been busy playing with my E34 so not much loving in the. past 18months for the E24. The clutch is getting tired and LSD losing its lsdness. I have an s50 based getrag 420g 6pd box and my original healthy 3.73lsd. Was thinking of grafting the m88/3 (m30 based) bolt pattern to the bellousin...

Re: Fitting brakes E31 Brembo fronts + E34 540i/M5 Rears
I ran e46 m3 disk when I done the big e31 brakes on the e36 m3. Went on with non modifications so more than likely they will fit e24 modifying the dust plates which is pretty simple

The early ones require an e9 based header for memory. I know an exhaust shop has a late model set of e28 based Motorsport downunder headers. He is pretty knowledgeable

Re: Fritz chip for M88/3: what does it do?
It’s a hard one to quantify. As I have the fritz headers the chip seemed to improve engine response slighly and rpm limit is around 7150 not the 7500. As Brucey states spinning an old engine especially one with a known weakness like the crank hub is a little risky. If one was to replace the crank hu...

It would be nice to go to one of these events. Thinking of going to goodwood FOS perhaps next year to excape the winter along with the gaydon festival which seems in consecutive weeks.

I’d seriously think about it if it’s the ITB version for the m roadster.
