Re: Rear Parcel Shelf

Perfect, thank you, exactly what I had in mind. Do you recall how many layers of cloth you laid? Probably does not need many... Sorry for the late reply Francois. I used only one layer of cloth. Didn't want to add anymore thickness than I had to. I did use two layers in spots where it was needed. I...

Re: AC evaporator?

Hey Dean, I just found this thread. This was near the end. From mye28... < I also ordered an evaporator for my 84 e24 from rockauto. Sure i had the same problems with the evap tube, but i still made it work. I just tweaked the tubes to get it to fit in the evaporator box. euroshark90 Location: St. p...

Re: 1987 M6 Losing power/RPM

Fuel tank is the logical starting point. Even if you have static fuel delivery, if the sock filter is clogged (or small hose perforated) you probably won't have volume when needed under load. Fix other stuff first, prob still a dirty tank and all that crud just ran thru all your new parts and you're...

Re: Junk in da' Trunk

So....how much junk yall got in the trunk? I'll flat out say that my coupe's trunk looks like a salvage yard, full with extra doodads and wingwongs. That tub is full of crapola too, mainly fluids and greasy shat. You could probably rebuild another BMW from the extra bits lurking in there LOL. :P ht...

AC evaporator?

Didn't I see where somebody said this evaporator wouldn't work in an e24? Any idea why?

Re: Small emergency

The relay probably has a diagram on the side or top of it.
If it clicks that means it has signal and ground to the coil terminals. But there might not be supply voltage to the switch side, or the switch part of the relay has gone bad, or either of the wires to the switch side are not connected.

Re: Anyone do a "free air" or infinite baffle subwoofer in their 6?

Dennis, you have a nice hole there #-o , I would cut a nice piece of 3/4 mdf or plywood to bridge across the flat spots from the rear (screwed or bolted to the sheetmetal), recut the round hole and mount a high efficiency woofer designed to be used IB, from the rear pointing towards the front. Fill ...

I'm thinking since the lights draw such a large load, and everything was well until flashing the lights, and everything was affected... It's gonna be something large and simple, like the battery ground. Remove and cleanup both ends of the batt ground cable and the connection to body, and could just ...

Re: Cracked Dash Repair and Repaint

With my car being an M I couldn't justify $2000 to $2500 for a dash by Just Dashes and it be vinyl. I think I'd have to step up and spend the extra and have it done correctly in leather but, finding a "craftsman" that can do high end work on the Eats Coast isn't easy. I have heard of a re...

Re: Anyone do a "free air" or infinite baffle subwoofer in their 6?

Did this in my '87 years back. 6 in Hart subwoofers, 100db 1w/1m! I have 100wpc (old school zed audio amp) on them. Sounds like a million bucks. Did the same a couple years ago with my '88. Found an inexpensive pair of 6" woofers that were high efficiency, I think 96db. Sounds great just off th...

Re: Cracked Dash Repair and Repaint

I think the plastic used by bmw to cover these dashes will crack after many years no matter what. Seems much more sensitive to heat and uv than other makes (ie ford chevy british etc...) I sure wish there was a way to strip all the plastic off and start from the foam up. I bought another used/cracke...

Re: Air Condition Gas Type

R12 and R152a are very different gases (not sure there is a fixed formula for R12a, which is usually a hydrocarbon mix), but if your system already empty and you hook to a vacuum pump, you're not contaminating anything, as the pump just vents to the atmosphere. Shops do have refrigerant recovery eq...

I took a can of Dust-off outside and tried to get the vapor stream to ignite using my propane torch lighter, and I couldn't do it. Then I lit the torch and sprayed the Dust-off into the torch flame. It did ignite, but went out if I moved it away from the torch flame. I tried turning the can upside-...
