Thanks guys for those last two posts in particular.
I'm now seriously going to consider draining the tank and replacing with AAO Storage fuel.
The current price in the UK is £38.50 for 10 litres, which really isn't too bad.

Re: Fuel Rail Leak
Is it just E5 that is hygroscopic? How bout E10? My 635 hasn't turned a wheel for several years and still has pre-E5 fuel in it. I understand that leaving old fuel in isn't regarded as a good thing, although I've never had any running issues after a previous long lay-off, but would that be better th...

Re: Fuel Rail Leak
Thanks Emac, Yes, I have already had all of the injectors cleaned, rebuilt and flow-checked. The car has only done about 20 miles since I refitted the refurbished injectors, so I am a little confudsed as to why I have a leak. Cheers, Ian And I presume that as part of the cleaning/flow testing work ...

Re: Door glass install
I did this on my car, passenger side, but it was quite a number of years ago. In my view the main issue with door window glass is to ensure the glass fits into the top seal in such a way that it seals snugly, but at the same time allows the door to be pushed closed without needing to use too force. ...

Re: Hard steering
I have no screeching or other noise. I have "rebuilt" the power steering pump to stop a leak. Symptom only appears with engine at idle. I'm afraid I don't understand how/when you would be braking hard when the engine is only idling? Nor what you mean when you say it's worse on a side to s...

Re: External lighting fault
If there was a permanent live feed why would the lights ever go off?
Not sure whether this is true or not (or in any way relevant/connected), but with no key involved, but with the indicator set for left or right turn, does the respective sidelight illuminate ie as a parking light?

It's a few years ago now, but I experienced something similar. But with Covid and and other distractions I still haven't got round to sorting it out!

Re: M30b35 swap cooling system
I think I know what the difference is Phil - the B35's system has the outlet at the rear of the head blanked off. You need to replace the blank with the "goose neck" from the back of the B34 head. As I understand it, this will allow the rest of the B34 cooling system to fit right up. Obvi...

Re: M30b35 swap cooling system
I'm not entirely sure why you feel the need for help on this one? Is there any fundamental difference between the cooling systems for the two engines? I wouldn't have thought so? Is your current radiator much different in size compared with what was found on the E34? Are the hose positions and sizes...

Re: Fuel pressure dropping
As you say, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing! I reckon I I've learned quite a lot in recent months about how thermistor temp measuring devices work. My experience has come from Honda engines where the coolant temp sensor appeared to be reporting 10C higher temps at around 90C and this apparen...

Re: Fuel pressure dropping
As you say yourself, irrespective of the number of "chugs", fuel pressure at the correct level seems to be present almost instantly. In which case doesn't that seem to rule out low fuel pressure as your issue? When "chugging", does the engine try to "catch" at all earli...

I'd expect you to be able to pick up a regulator for a lot less than that.

Re: Brake puzzle, new to the e24
As well as the above, which I agree with, I think you might do well to suspect the operation of the master cylinder insofar as the seals might be passing fluid, especially when temps under the bonnet get pretty hot.

Re: Help with diagnosing noise issue
Interesting that you don't get the noise if trail braking. My initial thought was wheel bearing too and wonder if some brake application gives a form of support to the bearing? After a decent run, have you felt the centres of the wheels to see if one is hotter than the other? And with each wheel in ...

Re: Weird Transmission Issue
Glad it's looking like it's sorted itself. The idea that old seals not performing as well a they once did sounds plausible, although I have no real insight into whether this might have been the case in this instance. During the 31 years of ownership my car has been known to sit for several years at ...

Is there reckoned to be any kind of issue with fuel lines if running E10 fuel? If so, is E5 still ok?

If it's the yellow caps I think you mean, aren't they intended to be single use only? And wasn't there something about new ones were invariably blue and therefore even with a casual glance you could see if the ITBs had been "tampered" with.

In my experience (in the UK) it's pretty easy, and not too expensive, to pick up a used control module. I presume this is what you're after? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175432504041?hash=item28d89792e9:g:-oIAAOSw4ChjNhlD&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoIQZbzVPIMl6T8rIli4qIVKbcTN%2FKFdmTn9eY005Xh%2FpsF9coo...
