Re: My 6'er
Many thanks on the summary of an A/C refresh. I've been accumulating the parts. The only original Sanden 508 seems to be from Summit Racing unless there are other vendors out there. My previous post was about my thermostatic fan and its behavior when cold. Any ideas there before I play parts bingo? ...

Re: My 6'er
So I did my weekly warm up before putting my Garage Queen to bed for the winter. If the fan turns on a dead cold winter morning, does that mean the thermostatic clutch has failed? I don't want to try the newspaper test as I have an original red fan.

I'd say a rising tide lifts all boats, but mine doesn't float. Too many holes
Think of it this way, every problem that you fix is worth something.

Song,
Spritz the MAF with some cleaner. Won't solve an intermittent stall, but might run smoother. Cheap enough.
If you want to see a Master of Upholstery, look for Cechaflo on YouTube. No dialog but brilliant skilz.

Re: My 6'er
Song,
Thanks for the reference to your thread. I'm likely to use a Sanden compressor and a pair of Spal pusher electric fans. I bought an aftermarket cross flow condensor. Should be an upgrade for those moist summer days.
Wish me luck.
Ken

Re: My 6'er
It's been a year since my last post and no progress at all. However we did put a new kitchen in the house and a refresh of the bathrooms. Back to the challenge at hand. Who posted the best blog on replacing the a/c components: compressor, evaporator, receiver dryer, hoses, etc.? Time to put my parts...

Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!
I thought I would try the 12qt bulk pack from Walmart. It like wine-in-a-box. Don't do it! From the 12qt box even with the spout, you need to dispense the right amount into another container before putting it into the engine. What a mess.
BTW, this was for my Lexus, not my 6er.

Re: Replacement battery pack for cordless power tool
While cordless is attractive from a functional perspective, there is no assurance when the batteries no longer retain a charge that you would find a first quality or OEM replacement. I've tried professional rebuilders but the cells don't seem to be as good as the OEM. Luckily the 120v 3 prong plug i...

You may want to get to know Roger Hanley (also from NC) who is restoring his car. He likely has good info on body shops for rust, paint and other needs of aging BMWs.

I've used the various build data sites over the years. If I saw the car again, I will put a note under the windshield. But I think it is no longer local.

I guess I will have to talk to the local cop who runs a stop sign trap on my corner. He's there almost every day...shooting fish in a barrel .

Finding a specific vehicle from the VIN number
I saw a car that I'd like to buy and all I have is a VIN. is there a free site to find the owner?
