Re: More headlight woes
So, after a long period of chasing suppliers and weeding out the incorrect parts, I thought I struck it lucky today when I picked up a high beam light that is correct, and a low beam light that I believed was correct. Who would have thought that a light that came from a RHD 1986, Aust delivered 635 ...

Re: More headlight woes
Well finally got the headlights out of the holders and started cleaning the good units, one high and one low beam, and ordered some second hand items, making sure the year, model and vin were provided at time of order. The photo below shows what I have (bottom) Vs what I received (top). headlight4.j...

Re: More headlight woes
I checked out that site when trying to see what I needed to do but it only shows the wiring. Does anyone have a repair manual that shows how the lights are replaced and could post a picture of the page?

More headlight woes
Tonite I thought I would quickly take the headlights out and clean the one's I'm keeping and remove the one's that are being replaced. Well, that was the plan. When trying to remove the nut off the back of the passenger side indicator (RHD) the nut is rusted to the bolt so it turns instead. Now I ne...

Re: A/C abilities
Genuine Sanden unit to be used, with installation handled by my good self. I've read the various post on what's involved so at least I have a starting point. A/C mechanic will be responsible for hoses, flushing and gassing. A quick check of condenser prices show local items are $200 - $300 but US it...

Re: Unattached wires
daz635 Thanks for the response. Its always interesting getting a new toy and discovering things that look out of place or just plain wrong. I figured that if everything on the car was operating, then the wires in question were not needed or were for add on extras. After posting the second photo, I d...

Re: A/C abilities
This morning I had the a/c mechanic look over the system and it was discovered the compressor had a small leak from a front seal and the TX valve was jammed closed. No wonder the amount of 'coolth' from the system was poor as the gas couldn't circulate. So, going on his years of servicing a/c units,...

RHD head lights
Putting the feelers out there for a good set of left and right hand side, low and high beam lights. Mine are so 'foggy' its hard to tell whether they're on or not.

Unattached wires
Been going over the car this weekend and found some wires that aren't connected, cut off and of unknown purpose.
Any help appreciated.

Re: A/C abilities
baders, Thanks for the links to Songs and your air conditioning forum links. Plenty of reading. I've been thru a similar lack of performance with my earlier Volvo 242 upgrade where the standard components were suitable for Sweden, not Aus, still I was able to get it operating reasonably using the st...

I've just had the a/c gassed up after years of neglect. The system shows no immediately apparent leaks or malfunctioning components and the 134 gas has been installed with lubricant and dye to keep things functioning, or if needed, make fault finding easier. My question is, what should I be expectin...

Re: OBC dsiplay gone dark
So, turned out there wasn't just the screw section in the way, but a strengthening rib also that stopped the front of the white edge from moving. At this stage I got the dremel out and within no time at all, I had the elusive holder out. Unfortunately, my less than perfect soldering skills ruined th...

Re: OBC dsiplay gone dark
Monoi, I cannot see what the screw is for but the tab at the top of the white end hits the black section so I'm not sure if removing the screw itself will achieve much. I might have to invest in a small pair of multi grips as the needle nose pliers don't give much grip other than to apply gentle for...

Re: OBC dsiplay gone dark
Thought I'd follow the very simple instructions especially seeing I also have a RHD car.
Radio out, easy enough as it doesn't work and needs replacing. Got my needle nose pliers and found there's a screw fitting obstructing the easy as pie removal process. Any suggestions???

baders
Your a champion. Will chase these down. Still intrigued as to the differences as the lights would/could/should be the same drivers side to passenger side.

Re: Headlights and winscreen rubber
Thanks for the responses. Well the car has, hopefully, given up all its requirements for a bit of TLC and I'm happy there's nothing major in the list. Yet. I discovered I can get the 'stars' in the windscreen patched, so tha'ts good news and saves some $$$$. A lot of the other things on the list are...

Headlights and winscreen rubber
Hi, New to forum as contributor as I've just picked up a red 1986 CSi auto this morning. =D> Initial issues as far as getting the car registered are two stone chip 'stars' in the front screen and stone chipped/cracked low and high beam lights as well as in one of the air dam driving lights. As all l...
