Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
I was ready to start this and then possibly drive it! Had problems with the starter not wanting to turn. Bosch SR441X seems to be NLA, so I got an aftermarket starter. 10.5 vs 15.3lbs https://drive4corners.com/wp-content/usergallery/hashtag/20231109_163118.jpg It just clicked, so I am not sure what ...

Re: Nice Series 1 Euro Hennarot 635CSi…
It looks quite nice, but some questions on the history. I think to me I am surprised it looks like it has a clearcoat.. has anybody else noticed this? Henna should be single stage... or did they just buff and wet sand the heck out of it? Also for such a premium, I would hope they would have a few mo...

Should be correct for an 8" wide wheel! 16's will handle a bit better though.

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
Agreed, I don't know what type of material our rings are for m30, but I mainly wanted to point out if you see factory cross hatching and in my case reuse of rings, a rehone shouldn't be necessary. Also wanted to share this thread about the wire for red/black which on let cars and sr441x may stop run...

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
Thanks Song. Tangible progress always helps! I went to build oil pressure and crank the engine and the starter wouldn't turn. So I ended up pulling the starter this week and it only arcs when I give it 12v signal on the bench. I ordered an sr441x starter and supposedly it will have enough power to n...

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
I made more progress last week and got the engine fully bolted down and the wire harness rerouted along with a bunch of other items. When bolting the engine in, I left off the fan clutch and fan, as well as the flywheel and clutch so that I would have a bit more clearance for reinstall. It is a a ti...

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
Thanks for the nice thought! Yes, I have been busy with little children at home too! But I was pretty bummed when I realized that my 635 had this big problem. In the mean time, I have been able to make a bit more progress since August. I realized I didn't share the details of getting the engine apar...

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
Thanks Song. Uncharted territory for me and I was sad to have the problem and not be able to drive the car but also interested to do the repair and learn more about engine building so I am taking the opportunity to learn more about all of it through the process. Some additional photos. Here are conn...

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro
Long overdue update here. I had some bad luck with the car and am not sure if I would consider it my ignorance or not. But I had been driving the car on and off in 2021 until I had resolved the running problem related to the parts inside the distributor. I had resolved that problem and drove the car...

Re: crankshaft for M90 engine
I wonder where I could get a used crankshaft for my M90? The threaded end of mine broke off. Otherwise, the motor ran great with oversize JE pistons, a 284 cam, 320i intake runners and a 3.73LS diff. I want to get my car back on the road but can't find a crankshaft. Also, will an M30B35 head work o...

Re: Lapis Rescue - '83 633csi - euro conversion starting July '22
Early early model US cars did have a federalized 5mph bumper that is longer but similar to the early euro. This would have been on a 630CS or similar early car. Your rear for an early euro should be like your original '78 635. If you can track one down, the good news is that they are quite easy to r...

Air flow meter for sale: motronic based M90 from a 1981 635CSI to go with ECU 0 261 200 002.
AFM that ends with 013. I converted to m1.3 and I think Bert bought the matching ecu. Pretty rare application.

Pm or email me.

Re: M90 fuel economy?
Hi Rainer, I get about 20mpg average. A bit higher on the highway, but lower in the city. Here are my logs over 20k miles: https://www.fuelly.com/index.php/car/bmw/635csi/1980/mpower0254/43492 I have closer ratio gears than you so you should see a bit better than me if you are running optimally.
