Re: Advice please, 635csi 1985 manual vs L6 1987 auto

If that was in Australia it would be dirt cheap. Here good low mileage 635CSi's are going from AUD$15k to $35k. There has not been an M635CSi for sale for some 5 to 7 years now. Additionally, our main car website used to have 5 to 7 633's for sale and anywhere up to 15 to 20 635's for sale. Now days...

The manual does look lovely. It has a nice clean line to it. The wheels look good. Nice choice. Looking forward to all of the pictures.

Re: Advice please, 635csi 1985 manual vs L6 1987 auto

I think photos are needed so we can compare the cars. Additionally, what are the prices and is the manual original or a gearbox swap?

You'll have far more fun in a manual. Unless you are Mr.E who can rocket an auto one handed at 80mph while hanging out the window to take a photo!

Re: Merry Christmas to all - Feb 2017 drive

Car started and running. Sounds very batwing CSL banshee wail mixed with that mechanical precision sound. Very exotic racey sound. My mechanic and I were giggling like kids. We did not expect it to sound so good. Must be the big CAMS. Minor adjustments to shims needed post first run. Prop shaft and ...

Re: Merry Christmas to all - Feb 2017 drive

The run would be great. Are we talking the B56? Many radar traps?? I'll wait until my wife and Son are holidaying in Brazil before doing that one. You're easy for me to remember Rob, my uncle had a farm at Binnaway and he shares your first name. Love the area when it is not too dry.

It does never end.

Gaz, I ordered the valve adjustment tool from Pelican Parts today. Should be in early next week. I think we will be right to go to dyno by the end of the month but it takes time.

Re: New shark owner

Welcome to the perfect example of the saying 'fine line between pleasure and pain'. I love these cars and they love my wallet. But to be fair, that's all old cars. Try finding a fiat the same age as your new 6'er at anywhere near the same condition. You find that the oil leaks are gaskets gone bad. ...

Timing chain tensioner from the S50 has now gone to the mechanic. So hopefully first start this week and then off to the dyno. Getting closer to that drive.

Re: sad day, goodbye to an M635

Yes, the M88 and 5 speed transmission can be transplanted into an e12 chassis'd 635. You do not even need to swap out the rear subframe. Just get a speed signal simulator. Here's the link to my e12 with the S38B38 in it. http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2119344-S38B38-into-my-1977-e1...

Re: orval2 - BMW M635CSI

Fantastic photos, Renaud, and thank you for sharing. It is not likely that a local BMW dealer will be working on McLaren F1 GTR! And was that another E24 M635 on the ramp behind you? What work is BMW Classic doing to your car? How long will it take? I will ask you how much it costs another time. I ...

Re: orval2 - BMW M635CSI

There are principals in creating more HP for any motor. Any real builder has to use many parameters to make a lot more HP. VIBRATION is an engine killer. The crank hub cracks because it is mild steel and the motor is long. The crank Oscillates and wants to grenade the motor above a certain RPM. Fir...

Re: Gertie Nears Completion -S38B38 with 370hp+ now in my 633CSi

The 135i has a much larger hub diameter and a completely different hat height, so just cannot be used. I'm pretty sure the e46 disk works as well but will go the HSV route.

Re: Gertie Nears Completion -S38B38 with 370hp+ now in my 633CSi

ericono, the wonderful thing about BMW wheels is that the Aussie Holden Commodore uses the same 5 bolt, 20mm offset 120mm bolt spacing layout. So over here, we have plenty of wheels to fit our beemers. That also means that we have plenty of disk brakes. So; The 135i uses a 333mm disk. The Holden Com...

Re: Merry Christmas to all - Feb 2017 drive

Baders, that drive sounds fantastic and is now on my must do list. Unfortunately it is a weekend drive for most of us and to kick things off for the year either a Saturday or Sunday for 5 or 6 hours would be preferable. I think Paul works Saturdays so we may aim for a Sunday. Still, what a drive. Mi...

Ellis, Engine back together and back in car. Need to change the timing chain tensioner to the S50 version plus hook up. Drive shaft is tight and needs modding. Hopefully can book into dyno in the next two weeks. Talked to Dave on Central Coast who is in for a drive and Bob and Trevor will jump at it...

Then off to dyno shop to have megasquirt ms3 pro installed and tuned. Only issue is whether or not my dyno shop is booked out prior to Chris...
