Awesome skills and patience. How long have you been at this project? Too bad this detail work will be hidden in the bodywork. But WE will know what you've accomplished.
Too bad there aren't more salvage yards to supply you with better parts.

Thanks for sharing

Power Steering Noise

I'm getting a slight noise like the relief value on the P/S even if I don't turn the wheel from lock to lock. Could this be a precursor to P/S pump problems. Car has 125,000 miles on the original pump.

Any experience with this?

Check the threads on BC for symptoms and solutions.
If the brake light on the dash briefly flashes when you push the pedal, it may well be the bomb.

Despite the difficulties with the upholster, would you replace the microfiber center sections with perforated leather to simplify cleaning and create a single color theme? Maybe it's the picture or the nap on the microfiber, but the picture makes it look a bit dingy while the bolsters look pristine....

Suggest you look at the Nov 25th 2014 post by MisterFixit regarding a lighting sale. He is a great resource for lighting information.

I know I raised the issue of fabbing these and the response was "it would be ridiculously expensive" or "there's an alternative". But I ran across hundreds of talented machinists used to doing "one-off" or small runs. Take a look for your amusement: https://plus.google....

The Flasher That Didn't Flash

I was having problems with the directional signal. It lit up, but didn't flash so I ordered a new relay from Rockauto. A Standard Motor Parts Number EFL8T as spec'd in their website. Got it promptly but it didn't work at all. No light and no flash. Thinking it was defective, they sent another, grati...

OK,
The TESA tape looks good. But what about my query as to the best way to wrap the main trunk while not disconnecting any wires from the fuse box?

Oil & filter change, topped up the spritzer. Darned antenna doesn't want to fully retract. More PB Blaster next time.

Wire rewrapping

Hi, I've heard that hockey tape is the best material to rewrap wiring. I need to do the main trunk from the firewall to the fuse box, but am concerned that too much movement may damage something. Can I unscrew the fuse box and lift it a few inches so that I can get the roll of tape around the wire. ...

deck lid interior vinyl

Can someone suggest a source for the grey vinyl liner in the trunk lid of a 1984 633 CSI (vin 6997510) I've got a small tear and the vinyl repair products aren't wonderful. Besides, it's getting dingy.

Not a collectors' car? Seriously? Think about it as an undervalued and underappreciated car that is rising in value. Just look at some of the sales that have been noted on BC. Move your battery, windshield washer bottle, radiator bottle to the trunk, replace the hood with a fiberglass version, elimi...

I am curious about the August 19th picture of the head surface after you had it cleaned up. I usually see a machined surface after a milling machine cleans it up. This looks almost like enough wasn't removed to provide a tight gasket surface. The acid test is how is it holding up? The car came out b...

The car really looks awesome. Nice detailing and engine brightwork and phosphor coating. But I must ask, was the antifreeze neglected which has anti-corrosive agents in it? I just replaced my antifreeze after 5 years and there was a ton of rust crud in the drain water which was a wake-up call. It al...
