Fuel leak

The fuel tank is a typically crap BMW design. It's made in two halves and welded together.Where the filler neck and the breather pipes are brazed in is a wonderful mud trap and the ledge where the top and bottom halves are joined rots away. You can see some areas by removing the rubber seal that fits ...

Cruise control actuator

Hi, The actuator bolts through the innerwing/fender.The mounting bracket for the actuator has 3 studs so you need to drill through the inner wing to mount it. I had to temporarily mount the oil reservoir, pipes and cables to ensure nothing fouled and then hope I'd drilled the holes in the right posit...

Looking at the parts CD, the fittings I have refer to a duplex chain se...

Mirrors

Use a hairdryer on the glass to soften the double-sided tape and with a large flat scraper gently ease the glass from the mounting plate.Don't get it too hot or the plastic surround will start melting. Once the glass has been removed you can see how it comes apart. If you have got heated mirrors you...

I found the easiest way to make the lines was using the old ones as templates and making them on the bench.Don't forget to put the union nut
on one end before bending!!

Re: Replacing brake lines

Hi all. I unfortunately, need to replace the front to rear brake lines on my 6. Tracing the lines I'm a bit concerned about the screw just above the rear subframe. Has anyone attempted to remove this without dropping the subframe? I believe there is a screw hidden where the lines enter the engine a...

rear pads

The sliding pins are covered by a plastic plug.Pull the plug off and there you go.You don't need to remove calipers to change pads just remove the anti-rattle spring, lever the piston back into the caliper (ensure that the master cylinder won't overflow)and the pads will pull out. Highlines are the s...

Water pump replacement

No problem to replace.Unbolt and remove.Ensure the mounting face is clean and replace using some sort of gasket goo(Hermetite or similar).
Torque the nuts to suit.

Mine is a Highline with wipers. The units from GSF were good.I tried getting
