I think you have probably got an E30 replacement light as they look the same as the E24 but, as you say,. the fitting lugs are orientated differently.
Suggest you take it back to the Stealer and get it changed.

Up rating brakes
Great articles from both Brucey and James.Just a couple of comments. Fitting a 750i m/c to a r/h drive Highline requires new brake lines as the lines come out on the other side of the m/c. 750i rear calipers are the same as 540 but the 750i discs don't fit as the the top hat measurement is larger. Hi Dave,The manifold nuts are a PITA but with suitable sockets/extensions etc.it is possible. Hi Drew, I've probably got a spare somewhere. To try to drill it out is a headache and will probably damage the housing as it is only soft alloy.I'll look at the weekend.

Compression tester
Hi Drew,The testers I have used in the past have had some form of pressure release to dump the pressure.
If yours hasn't got that, you will still be able to read the pressure as it's cranking over.It just won't show on the gauge when you stop cranking.

Wheel bolts
No problem with chrome flaking off as you don't need to hold bolt head
and as long as you have a socket that is a good fit should be no problem on the nuts.Suggest you ask your plater to double plate all the nuts and bolts.

If the bolts and nuts are OK have them bead blasted and chrome plated. That's what Dave and I had done and they look great. Ref. your query about splitting the hub from the rim.You will probably need to use a press as the corrosion that has built up will be quite severe (maybe not in the States) I th...

Sticky boot(trunk)lid catch.
Hi Dave, As everyone has said give everything a good lube with WD 40. There is a way to open from the outside if the catch doesn't work. Remove the badge and drill a hole through the lid and bracketry inside and using screwdriver manually operate the catch. You can't see the hole once the badge is ba...

Drew,You cannot use fog lights as long range driving lights as they will be below the minimum height. The construction and use regulations define quite strict measurements for fog and driving lights. To remove the regulator first remove door trim.Unbolt the glass from the
carrier and slide glass upwards out of the door. Then you can unbolt the carrier frame complete with regulator. It's a PITA job but its easier the third time around.
