Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
The rears are different to the fronts and they are handed left and right. Only post late '86 they are. Before that they're the same part number. Edit: Unfortunately the E28 substitution/modification option is now out as the E28 front sensors are now also NLA everywhere with no plan for a reproducti...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
Does anyone know or can check if the rear E24/E28 proximity sensor is the same as the front one? ie. if completely disregarding cable length and termination plug on the end, is the rear ABS sensor of an E24/E28 identical to the front ABS sensor? Reason for asking is that rear sensors are significant...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
Ouch! 45" down to 30" huh. Glad I missed out on those Advance Intermotor sensors in that case. I'm now resigned to having to extend the cable lengths of some other sensors to get my fronts working again. So here's the next question for that plan: What's the cheapest ABS sensor model that w...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
Splicing in new cable seemlessly should not be too much of a problem for those with enough motivation to have working reliable ABS, but we need a source for the right cable. Bosch aren't going to help. I've already tried that route and it was a dead end. I have a brand new rear E24 sensor in a box h...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
I think I got the last one from Advance. Many thanks to Bob (86_6series) for all the help in obtaining it. It is 14" shorter overall. 14"!! Wow, that's a lot more than I was expecting. Were you able to make that work just with some re-routing of the cable to make up that 14" lost len...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
IIRC a shorter wire is the only difference between the (available) E28 front sensor and the E24 sensor. If the parts are coming with shorter wires they are probably the E28 part. My thinking too. Unfortunately I was never able to test the theory because the Intermotor part from Advance Auto Parts t...

I need help too please. Would any US native be willing to help me out please? This is by far the hardest retailer I've ever seen to buy from. They really , really don't want to take money from anyone outside the US. You can't sign up as a new user without a US mobile number they send an SMS code to....

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
I have good news to report. The ABS sensor was installed today and the "anti-lock" warning light went out immediately. It was a straight "plug and play" install. The wire was a little short but easily resolved by re-routing. How much shorter from the ones you took out was it? Ca...

I ordered and received an ABS Speed Sensor from Intermotor that may work. It's part number ABS1541 and can be found at the below link: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/intermotor-abs-speed-sensor-abs1541/20473652-p?utm_medium=affiliate&nAID=11138&utm_source=cj&utm_campaign=7805196&am...

Re: Reserve fuel tank - Spare Wheel
The spare wheel must go in upside down when you have one of these. The instructions even state so. If you fit the fuel tank first and then put the spare wheel over it, the retaining washer/bolt will only hold down the spare wheel from moving around, not the fuel can underneath, so you'd be hearing t...

I remember talking once to Alpinecsi and he has the direct source for most of the connectors that BMW uses...As for the wire if someone knows how to classify the sheath and wire type I think we can find something similar with everything that is out there..I will look into it... Anyone know how to c...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
there is no need to buy wire; just use the wire (cut to a suitable length) -and the plug too- from the old sensor. Hmmm, yes, I can see that logic, but these cars are all nearing at least 30+ years old now. The old wire insulation has no flexibility left. Even mine being a car that's spent the last...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?
as I mentioned upthread, I have spliced ABS wires on other cars and it is really no problem at all. Depending on how you do it, you can have the splice near the suspension, or the other side of the wheelarch, where it will see less weather. If you can use a soldering iron and know how to use heat-s...

Re: Anti speed camera stickers
You bring up a good point. There are lots of automated places now that read number plates and having unreadable plates (whilst a good thing from a privacy point of view) will become increasingly inconvenient as automated systems make it ever more difficult for you not to assimilate. If you had to ma...

Touching a GPS unit ? I believe that that is OK as well, but of course if it was the cause of an accident, then you would be charged. A guy here in recent days has just driven his modified (looked that way to me with all-blacked out pimp-mobile 20+" wheels from the media photos) late model Toy...

Re: Anti speed camera stickers
California also has aggressive laws about using your phone while driving, but there is provision to allow for hands free usage. My old HTC One lives in a hands-free cradle and switches to car mode. So it complies with our laws. You don't have the same in WA? Literally touching your phone, even in a...

Re: Anti speed camera stickers
BTW, I had some fun couple weekends ago going up around Clenton Road in the M3. Be careful on Clenton Rd, that's a favourite of the Gidgegannup cops too! They know all too well what a popular bike club run road it is and patrol it regularly to catch the 'hoons' coming the other way. Last time I dro...
