Re: M30 intake manifold
I dare say it will fit, but you want the other one! - the very last M90s (running the 002 Bosch ecu IIRC) had the M30 B34 manifold fitted, with 3.2/3.5 on the vertical part of the inlet. I'm in the UK and I've got a spare one or two of these, plus a spare earlier M90 "banana" inlet if of a...

Re: Motor mount replacement interval?
Cylindrical one on passenger and driver's side of all cars I've owned except the M, and that had the reinforced metal one on rh side only. Different part number for M r/h mount as well, although it looks identical to reinforced ones in your picture. cylindrical ones tend to look like The Cat in the ...

Oh nice! I didn't know it was a split box. Will do and report back. Looking back at some old photos I was wrong in saying that the case splits .... If you detach it from it's mounting to the inner wing and invert it you will expose the soldered joints I speak off. Don You're right with the S...

Re: Brucey Update
Sorry Pod, I missed this! He's struggling a bit, to be honest. The plan to visit him in October fell through due to Covid here, so I've only had brief conversations with him. There hasn't been the progress he'd have liked and that is frustrating him. Naturally, he was well-equipped to educate me on ...

Re: M90 motronic rotor adapter
Thank you, I suspected it might be a little more involved! I'm told the profile of the B35 cam is very similar to the Hartge one suitable for the M90, so it might work out okay in any case.

M90 motronic rotor adapter
Hi chaps,
If I wanted to run an M90 on Motronic, is this the adapter I need? I know I'll need a different upper timing chain cover and rocker cover too - but this is the part I'm most interested in.
Many thanks,
Rob

Re: Coolant hose to expansion tank - too short
Original hose marked 1284598 phx4875, but that doesn't yield any results. Here's a picture to better illustrate: hose.jpg As you can see, I've had to route "Shorty" over the top of the PAS/bomb plumbing. Better to go with short and stretched, or long and old if I can't get the right hose? ...

Coolant hose to expansion tank - too short
Hi chaps, I've just refurbed the cooling system in the project car with the kit from W&N. The hose, the one that tees off under the intake manifold to attach to the underside of the expansion tank, part number 11531272835, is the right shape, but too short, meaning the hoses running under the ma...

Brucey Update
I finally got to see him! Visiting at the hospital was not possible, with two nominated visitors only. He has been moved to a care home, which does allow for visitors, but is obviously less than ideal. I'm trying to tread a fine line between respecting his privacy and keeping you good people up-to-d...

Ha! E39 fronts are in usual parlous state - will need to get busy polishing and doing my best to replicate diamond cut finish on the E31s.

Brand new only £100 or so for a set - a rare bargain in the BMW world! For what it's worth, you've got the same set up that I'm using on my 635 - the ET20 Rc090s perfect for the front; ET10 RC009s on the back to fill the arches - the 10mm makes all the difference. Even better, I took my time and pic...

Re: M6 Brakes sticking
Is there a rotor that is hotter than the others? I had a sticky rear caliper that had just got gunked up and needed a clean and new seals - I knew it was that one as rotor too hot to touch on that side after drive with draggy feel to brakes in traffic.

Here's an extract from the excellent motronic no-start guide from Hi Performance store - you'll find the whole thing with pictures with digging. I converted my burgundy car to manual and kept the auto trans TPS with no ill effects. Hope this helps to identify the problem before going down the parts ...
