Options sheets available

Post by Alex E24 E30 »

Just a plug here, as I couldn't find a previous thread regarding this. We've had a couple threads over on bf.c about offering the factory options sheet that came with our E24's. I've recently taken over command of this duty, and I'm extending it to everyone here who may not have had the chance (or even know that it was offered there) to have theirs pulled.

If you like, you can post up the last 7 digits of your VIN, and I can pull the options sheet from BMW AG and post it back here. Or, if you don't want your info in the public eye, you can PM me and we can handle it that way. However you prefer. Attached is the options list for my car, to give you a point of reference. BMW AG didn't do a perfect job of keeping every single record, so I can only pull sheets for cars that have a build date of 1/83 or later. Also, this service is only offered for the E24 chassis.

Being that I'm in my final year of undergrad studies, I'll occasionally hit exam/project crunch time, so there may be a lag in response, but I will get back to you as quick as I'm able.

Alex

EDIT - Since I haven't been having luck at sending files through PM, please send me your email as well, so we can be sure you get what you came for.

7/16/12 - The following website was brought to my attention that contains the same options information that you can obtain in this thread, but it doesn't show up in a nice, handy PDF format. If you are just browsing around at cars and would like to know what the options were, I would recommend this method. Or if the format of the information doesn't matter much to you either, this might be a viable route. As always, though, if you would like to have your information pulled in a form like what is shown in this thread, then feel free to let me know. I'm just here to help

At last, I've found the translation for "nur Boden konserviert" it means

"delete clear coat". When I queried it before on here, nobody came up

with that translation. Thanks Alex for the copy of your build sheet.

Thank you very much: I binned my rear seats without realising the importance of the stapled-on bit of paper!

VIN 8186313 if you get a chance, very kind of you if it is possible.

Thanks again,

Rob

All PM's replied. I think I had an operator error early (didn't hit the "add attachments" button), so if you didn't get yours, yell at me and I'll get it right this time  . Think I got everyone, but just wanna make sure.

Didn't receive a PM. Send me your email, too.

It looks like I can't seem to figure out how to add attachments to PM's. I'm using the "browse" button, selecting the file, and then hitting the "Add Attachment" button. Then I hit "Submit." Am I missing a step here?

Might be best if folks send me their email as well, should you choose to PM me, until I can figure out how this system works.

I dont think its your fault Alex, more likely the forum, it does have some problems from time to time.

By the way, thanks again for my options sheet - really helpful! Now I just have to figure out what half the stuff means

Hi Alex

Post by M6smitten »

Talor Marshall had researched this for me but I was wondering if you had more info. How often have you seen :

S915A nur Boden konserviert - Delete clear coat

And

Sonderlackierung (490)- Special lacquer. I think this was a custom color chosen by the customer and painted by the factory

Thanks in advance

I haven't seen either of these much since I've started pulling the options lists. I may be able to search their system for more information as I become more acquainted with it.

i think my m635 was supposed to have this option but has since been painted, there is one good sized part on the door where the respray fell off and you can see the satin original paint, probably looked interesting in its day

Sorry for hijacking your thread Alex , my bad.

I talked to Alex at the M registry and he said many (code 490 or Sonderlack - special paint) cars were Blue-Black Metallic or Petrol Green. Does your original paint match either Winfred?

I went through each M635 CSi at the M registry and found seven with paint code 490. All were Blue-Black Metallic

Anybody know what the following options actually mean?:

S291A BMW LA Wheel, cross spoke 2 section (which style are these?)
S441A Smokers Package (any idea what this consisted of?)
L812A National Version Great Britain (does this just mean RHD, GB differences, etc?)
S850A Additional export tank filling ???
