RIP Wynn...

Post by bfons »

Received this today:

Sad day today. Our leader has fallen asleep in death last night. They have been trying to bring him back for last few days from induced coma but succumbed last night. There will be a "Celebration of Life" in Stockton Feb 23. Location TBD. Address for sympathy cards
7701 Alexandria Pl
Stockton CA 95207

Sad news indeed. A loss to the Sixer community and the world as a whole.

I only met him in person twice, but can attest to his warmth, character and radiant positive energy. He was an integral part of our community with his efforts to help keep the Pacific SharkFest on everyone's mind. People like him keep us all connected and I am thankful I had the opportunity to meet and get to know him even a little bit.

I am so very sorry for Patti's loss. I offer my most heartfelt and sincere condolences to his close friends and family.

Winfield Scott Williams

Post by dlvad »

Patti left a message early this AM informing us of the news.

My heart felt condolences to his wife Patricia, daughter Sonny and family.

Winfield and I spoke and emailed each other regularly since first meeting in 2001. We shared many practical jokes, stories and ancedotes as well as more than a few bottles of beer and glasses of wine over the years.

Ol'Winfield never let much grass grow under his feet either, if he wasnt tinkering with one of his vehicles he was working on some other project. He loved to work with wood and recently completed the remodel of his kitchen.
He was an audiophile of sorts and played both acoustic and electric guitar. As a young military man he served several tours in Vietnam and Europe mostly DE.
He was an aviator, Lt Colonel no less, his call sign was Smokie1
piloting both fixed wing and rotor craft. Upon his retirement from the Army he flew corporate aircraft for some movers and shakers.

His yearly contribution and commitment of time and energy not to mention his enthusiasm for Pacific Sharkfest was without peer.

We will all miss his contagious smile and infectious big laugh.
Winfield always had a flight plan.

Devi and I will arrive in NorCal on the 16th to pay our respects.
Ive spent the last couple of hours rooting through my pics. Ill post up a few later.
If anyone has any pics of Win at his best please post them.

Very sad day in Baja...

Great write up and pics Guys

I'll never forget how he had this passion and dream of buying that Burgundy 6er. I recall myself thinking "Good luck finding one". He was patient though and eventually found that beaut.

Wow - very sad news indeed. I had the honor of meeting Wynn and his wife at the most recent Pacific Sharkfest, and enjoyed talking with him at length at the final dinner. He was well liked in the community for a reason, and he'll be greatly missed.

my heart is filled with great sadness. Wynn was such a wonderful person. My biggest regret is missing the last few sharkfests due to personal problems. Wynn could make anyone laugh no matter what mood you were in. We will miss all those great stories.

How quickly life can change. Who would have thought that simply clearing leaves from your roof can lead to a fatal fall. I'm sure to Wynn that it seemed like a routine task after watching a NFL playoff game.

Wynn, Paul & I have been putting our heads together over the past 10 years to make the Pacific Sharkfest happen. His creativity and endless energy over all things 6-ers will will be missed greatly by those who have known him. BMW cars were just the tip of the iceberg if you were lucky enough to know him well.

For those who knew and loved him, life does go on. Best to Patti, Sonny & all.

Truly a sad day :(

Post by GRNSHRK »

For those of us on the left coast and specifically the bay area of CA, most have run into Wynn at one time or another. As Steve mentioned, Wynn, Paul and himself were the guys that put PSF together every year, and I can't even fathom attending a PSF without Wynn there

Wynn was also big in the Sactown chapter of the BMW CCA, surely he has touched and reached out to many more people and Binner owners than just us 6er guys =D>

Receiving that sad news on Saturday, I am still choking back the tears, I never imagined what an impact this gentle man had on my life :-k

I hope that we can continue to show our support, attending his memorial service and celebration of his life will be coming up in a couple of weeks [-o<

As we get more infomation, we will post here so that we can show Patti how well loved Wynn truly was =D>

Sad day today as we pay our respects. First time I met Wynn I was impressed how welcoming and friendly the man was. Very interesting and colorful character! And he bought Jayne and I breakfast. What a guy! He will be remembered.....
Sorry I don't have the day off (Mandatory training class) but I will be there in spirit.
May God keep his soul close. [-o<

Wynn's memorial/Celebration of Life yesterday truly was a celebration of my friend's singular character and life. So much joy and love in that gathering and a lot of great stories with Patti gleefully chiming in details. It was as he would have wanted.

Afterwards, a photo was taken of the Sixes arrayed around Wynn's 635. Hopefully, that will make it on here.

This was the group of cars surrounding Wynn's Luxorbeige 635CSi. There was quite a showing of Pacific Sharkfest participants. Many from past years. Some have sold their cars by now but were there because of Wynn. People from at least four states and Baja attended. Unfortunately some of the 6ers had already left before the idea of posing the cars developed.

That is a neat picture indeed.

I wasn't there in person, but I was there in spirit. I went for a quick drive yesterday thinking about how Wynn was all smiles and positivity when I got to meet him. I had really looked forward to meeting him again. His energy and spirit reminds us to do what really makes us happy and share it if we can.

I will miss his presence in our community, but am so very happy I got to meet and know him.

All my best to Patti and his family of friends.
