Mazda MX-5 90' - My daily driver, reliable, cheap and funny.
BMW E24 635CSiA 85' - My garage queen / collectable car.
BMW E23 728i 86' - My project car, soon to become a 745i.
BMW E23 745i 82' - My first car and previous daily. Now got a fully rebuildt and mildly tuned engine, I'm aiming for 500whp+ with the new setup. Sadly it's being used as donor for my 728i-745i conversion, because of rust and "repairs" done to it by it's previous owners.
I have had some other cars too, but for spares or as "projects" only. (before I got old enough to drive)

As of right now:
SAAB 9-5 - Wifes daily driver
Nissan Juke - My daily driver
BMW 635CSi - In the summer time...
...allthough the SAAB will likely be traded for a 320d in a couple of weeks. And the 635 will probably have the company of either a Z3m or a Ducati 848 by next summer - depending on how many wheels I'm looking for at the moment!

My daily driver is a 93 MB 500E. I love the car and will never sell it. Just cracked 190k miles and it runs and drives like new, and looks quite good as well inside and out. Bone stock except for "silver arrow" brakes (from the 02' silver arrow edition SL600...4 pot brembos with 334mm rotors on the front, 300mm on the rear with ate calipers...huge improvement over the stockers and a very easy upgrade) and 18" 5-spoke S-class take offs to fit them. Trying to get a set of 17" Brabus monoblock III's, perfect wheel for the car imo, but they are very hard to find in the US.
I also recently bought an 85 745i from the original owner. Bahama beige/nutria buffalo. Purchased through A&E Performance in Cambell and serviced by them since new. Runs like new, but the paint is faded and the buffalo is dried out and ripped on the front seats. I've been conditioning it with leatherique and looking for new front seats. Long term I would like to bring the interior back to top condition, go through the whole hvac system (it is working now but I want to pull the dash and replace all the lines and pods, and upgrade the compressor), upgrade the turbo/fuel system/ignition with a goal of 450-500 rwhp with out a ton of lag, and leave the body as is. I love the bahama/nutria buffalo combination, it has inspired me to go the same route with my 6.
I also have a 73 MB 450 SL that I drove out of a corn field a while back. It runs and the body is straight and rust free, but it needs to be torn apart and either restored or restomodded. Not really sure what I want to do with it tbh...I have a buddy storing it for me at the moment. A local dealer has a 75 SLC that is quite clean cosmetically that he wants $4k for...I keep thinking about buying it and swapping the small bumpers from the 73, then just parting the 73 out. I prefer the fixed roof SLC to the SL. There has also been talk of an LSx/6-speed swap. Who knows...a project for another day.
If I had a place to store them I'd buy cars constantly

It's nice to see a few MB guys on this forum. Your 450SL story is similar to the story I have with my 84 500SL. Also found in a field where it sat for 10 years, but took surprisingly little to turn it around.Mejnoon wrote:My daily driver is a 93 MB 500E. ....

This is what it looked like when I got it and what it looks like now.
I also agree with you on your comment regarding the SLC. They ride much nicer then an SL because of the extra wheel base and have a little more room so that your belt never gets caught between the seat and the door pillar.
This is my old Ikon Gold 79 450SLC 5.0 (#1143) and the black car is my ex 81 500SLC (2526). If you end up looking for an SLC, find a 5.0 car as they only made ~ 2700 of those. They are very powerful and they will become very collectible in the future.

Quite a lot of other cars going around here, and some people have quite the collection!
I only have one other car, MB W124 260E as my daily, so smooth and comfy. Been having some troubles with it, so the M635CSi has been pressed back into daily service for now. When needed that is, mostly do everything by bicycle these days.

The M88/3 was all about power, no cats. At idle the raw fuel from the exhaust will make your eyes water like an old V-8 powered muscle car's exhaust did.
Al, same color and everything...here's my "as found" shot lol
Really beautiful cars you've got. I've never seen a 5.0l SLC in the US but I'd love to have one...the car I mentioned for sale locally is just a run of the mill US market 450. A clean one though, and I pass it twice a day on my way to and from work, which creates a great deal of temptation.
Its amazing how much the euro bumpers change the look of MB's of this era, just like the contemporary BMW's.

Doesn't look too shabby to me. Mine was wild, the PO cut the exhaust system off as rats moved in, when I lifted the hood, there was a giant wasp nest and a racoon climbed in through the back window of the soft top and trashed the interior getting out.Mejnoon wrote:Al, same color and everything...here's my "as found" shot lol
Luckily most parts were on hand used so I was able to get it back together quickly.
The 450SLC 5.0/500SLC were homologation specials built by MB between 1978 to 1981 for rally racing. They were a light weight version of the 450SLC with an all alloy 5.0 liter V8 and some aluminum panels, tri-y headers etc and made about 50 more HP then a regular 450.
You can ID them by the vin # which begins with 107-026
While none were officially imported to the US, many were privately imported and this country probably has the largest number of survivors.
They're really nice cars. If you're into these cars, you should check out the 107 group on Benzworld.org. It's very active and there are lots of very knowledgeable people on that group to help you along.
