Claimed by ice...MARGIN BUSTER use ctrl and + or -

Post by shay_mcquaid »

Well folks,thats it for my 6... #-o

After many years and countless time and money its done.

I was on the way to work after taking 4 days off.

Been sub-freezing here mostly for last 4 days.

Hiway was dry, suddenly my front end shot out to the right,i over corrected (i suppose) hit the wall, rode up it,back down it then spun out.

I'm ok,no one else involved.

Lessons learned:
STAY HOME ON ICY DAYS!!!
OR at least Dont drive special vehicles on icy days.

Carry full coverage on your classics. I didnt.

sorry about the ride. Glad you're safe though. I lived in Dallas many years ago. Ice can be devastating there.

I hate being a dick, but you should have had proper tires or at least been driving at lower speeds on days like these.. Did it happen on a straight or was it after a corner?
My condolances are all out there and I'm sorry about your loss, just glad to hear that you are ok!

Your tires appear to be all-weather. Is that right?
Black Ice can be a bitch! Sorry for your problem.
I hope your nice car can be saved.

We've been blessed with daily melt/freeze cycles that make the elevated overpasses miserable....... cobblestone ice, bare roads and then black ice.

ow....

rough luck that.

Obviously you can't tell for sure from pictures alone, but it looks to me that your car is repairable, if that is what you want to do.

If it is any consolation I'm not sure that anything short of full studded tyres would have helped much in the ice conditons you have had. And they wouldn't be any good for the other 99% of your journey, so may not be legal to use as a consequence (they wouldn't be in the UK).

Here in the UK if there are weather conditions like that, they just go mental chucking salt on the roads. They throw it everywhere, not just in the places where the road will ice up. Hence old cars rust, and rust like fury.

hope you get it fixed

cheers

Brucie, I thought all cars there were seeded with rust as a part of the MOT....

I guess that's one benefit of mine being not startable. I really feel for you.

My little bro is in Frisco and was telling me the icing is bad right now.

Shit, man. Just .... shit.

Glad you're ok, but .... shit.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but good that you're OK.

We just had our worst frost this year and it was -4c at 07:45 this morning with freezing fog and black ice all over the roads :(

This can be an opportunity, turn it into a rat rod or stock car racing replica from the early 80's

That is truly tough, but like someone already mentioned, it looks repairable. Based on the photos it seems to be mostly twisted sheet metal, but all lamps are still there. Sure, some time and money to be spent (mostly on beer I guess), and it may return to its old glory =D> .

Just in case you're going to "trash" it after all, I could need a new glove box

Accept it (sh..t happens), sleep it over and get it back on the road!
