Pulled off the cover to drive it to the office since I didn't need the service truck. Stepped on the clutch only to have it hit the floor. Ordered all the clutch hydraulics, the pool on the floor was the give away. Now to get it to my shop so I have enough elbow room to get it in the air.

Isn't that a punch in the gut? I had the same experience with my M3 yesterday. Took the cover off, jumped in, cranked it and hit the clutch to put it in gear. No bueno. Pedal went to the floor, but no obvious leaks. Master cylinder most likely.
And in the E24 camp, the fuel pump went bye-bye in the 633.

The car went up on stands to fix the clutch hydraulics. So, "While I'm in there" took hold. Brake parts have been sitting here for quite some time, but is seems other things took priority. No longer. Since I needed to deal with the clutch hydraulics, no sense in not flushing the brakes. So overdue pads and rotors it is,
It has been a while since I have crawled around under the car. Fortunately no real surprises. Took most of the day, but after a spin around the block all is well. Ran to the beer store and didn't die in a horrific no brake accident and the clutch disengaged as designed, Life is good,
Happily under the cover now. Back to fixing other folks broken crap next week, all my stuff is running........ At the moment........Murphy is going to rear his ugly head.

Funny CSGuy, actually got to drive mine weekend before last, thanks to a day drive organized up here in the bay area by the Face Plant 6er group
She hadn't been out since PSF last October, but in my defense, the 6er is parked at our new (to us) house in Gilroy which is 40 miles from where we currently live
So it's not like I can just go out to the garage and fire her up
Won't be doing much of anything to her until we move, which is slated for early March, wherein I'll commence on the healthy list of work and projects I have compiled

I would have rather driven it...but I had pulled the doors apart to replace the seals. After striping the I found a thin strip of sheet metal as sort of a base for the rubber that had been bent. I didn't like the way it straightened and have been looking for a replacement

Just got the car back from the shop where the rear self-leveling shocks were replaced along with the brake bomb. While in I also had the trans resealed, the front timing cover done, valve cover gasket, rear prop seal, front wishbones and front straight arms replaced. Lots of work!
Car runs and corners amazing now, and I’m not afraid of crashing anymore thanks to the brake bomb :)
The car has not been washed since last August and has been sleeping in the garage for quite a while. Now that it’s spring I’m excited to start cruising again. In a few days she will get a driveway bath.
I also tinted the lights in the front and the rear backups this morning using Lamin-X. Not sure if the picture will attach here. Posting this from my phone (I usually view this site on desktop)
Anyway.....

You have to to get here: You'll and with this pile of parts: The problem is that every of the 24 valve caps/adjusters, 14 cam shaft bearings, 24 camshaft housing screws + 14 nuts and uncounted straps/holders/clamps/hoses need to get in the exact same order. Especially the vlave caps are fitting soaking into the camshaft housing. No way to get it back running if you mix them up.
And everything just to get rid of the oil leak at the top left corner cylinder #6 (rear oil pressure line).

Drove it .
Early morning ,empty mountain roads , empty skies ...Ah bliss.
Realised that this is the first time I've driven it since September last year what with winter and then this lock down.
Did an oil service last week and full underside clean and polish.
New sports seats are suberb , they are very supportive and a million times better than the old comforts . I'd still like to lower them a little more at the front so I must look into that .
Anyway ,it's great to be back in it again.

Got it registered yesterday and drove it to work for the first time this morning. What a joy to drive! I've always been more into 4WD than speed but this is just so fun to drive that I just want to keep going. I guess you all know what I mean but I just have to say it. Have a great day!

Oops, here she is. Not the best pic but it will do for now. It came to me from my brother-in-law, may he rest in peace. This was his baby and it's an honor to have her. It has great bones, totally rust free. It needs more cosmetic work than anything but it will eventually get a complete makeover. I took my son out today so he can learn to drive a manual transmission and he did great. He wanted to keep going but it was time to cut the lawn...

Took my M635 out for a run - it was only the second run out this year but not because of Covid19, because I have been arranging, or rather re-arranging, my front driveway for the arrival in a few weeks of a double garage to hide the ageing Alpinas away in.

More cleaning on the less visible portions. Not exactly a before and after, but it gives you an idea of the difference. I'm just using some standard spray bottle de-greaser with lots of scrubbing and it's quite a pain. 30+ years of road grime. I'm pretty much done - it's definitely not a show car but it won't see rain unless I get stuck on a longer trip so I'm hoping it will stay reasonably nice. Any methods/materials that might make this easier or more effective?

Finally solve the no crank no start problem that I had since 14 years ago . Turned out that the solenoid was not receiving enough current to kick the starter . As suggested by a fellow forum member at bimmerforum , my tech just ran an extra wire from terminal 87 of the start relay under the dash board and connected it to the yellow black wire going to solenoid and problem solved .

Completely finished the US to Euro Highline front conversion. Happy with the result.
