F-1 Turmoil!

Post by GripGreg »

There are still issues in the F-1 Mercedes camp between the two drivers & team orders!
OOOhh what to do, what to do? :-k
Nikki Lauda, a team CEO of sorts, sides with Hamilton as a driver!

I couldn't believe that they told Hamilton to move over. I'm glad he ignored them =D>

Agree, sadly the title is likely to be decided in the final ridiculous double points race.

I think if Rosberg had managed to catch Lewis he would have moved over but made the correct desicions not to slow down to let him past, would have cost him 3 sec maybe and he only got third by 1 sec

If Lewis's car proves reliable he will win the 2nd half of the season.......it's been great watching him coming through the pack but now it's hammer time!

I'm really enjoying this season and with the new engines you can hear the tyres squeal

Those of us why like the occasional "conspiracy theory" could wonder why Hamilton's car has gone wrong so many times? Add that to the "let him pass" order and you could believe that the team want Rosberg to win the Championship. A very similar situation to that which occurred at Red Bull with Vettel and Webber :-k

IMO Hamilton's the better driver anyway, just look at the last two races to prove that!

Yes, I do agree to a certain extent......German Team, German Car, German Team Boss (although he obviously is of good character as his wife is a Scottish girl).........perhaps they would want the German driver to win and imagine if he was the son of a past F1 Champion albeit a Finn........one may suggest Lewis was not in equal standing, however find it hard to believe they would burn there own car to make the point...........or would they!

I think Lewis is starting to think so :-k

I would have been convinced by now if it was me!

Note that the team have announced that they're negotiating with Hamilton to extend his contract, although I think he has 18 months left to run? It'll be interesting to see if he stays and what happens after the break. Maybe they'll kick him out early?

I was wondering if he would end up at Ferrari :-k

F1 is see tangly interesting when there is some rain or unexpected safety cars

I guess u could make it even more strategic. Give them unlimited revs and fuel flow but limited fuel. This would make for more variable power and probably more mechanical risk. . Also maybe make points for first a lot more than what they are now. At least double maybe even more so people don't settle for 2nd and they will do more risk to win

Perhaps winners and maybe top 3 should have grid penalty for next race.

Perhaps introduce some randomness. Maybe a stop go penalty for everyone say every 2nd lap with 2 laps notice totally random some could be done under safety car etc. Dont think the drivers would like it much especially when they are in the lead.

Gaz.......I know what you mean, unfortunately the manufacturers have to justify spending enormous money on F1 and most comes out of the R&D budget (unless your Ferrari of course then it's the other way around) F1 cars of today help improve fuel efficiency, safety performance, etc for the road cars of tomorrow. F1 encourage this in their rules and restrictions.

It would be great if we had a no restrictions Formula where they built the fastest cars possible and it was a race from start to Finnish. We all know that the tyre manufacturers could make a tyre that was super sticky and last a whole race, just fuel the cars for a race distance and go!

Yes probably keep the rpm limited but
Not the fuel flow rate so they can run flat out but at the peril of using up all the fuel. With limited fuel I thought more drivers would run out of fuel can't remember last time this happened.

I would love to say that was an intentional pun but I'm just not that witty............glad you are all paying attention anyway.

Bottas is a star for the future for sure.....

Back in the short lived turbo days, they could go hog wild on spending and each year it was simply a matter of the biggest budget wins.

Now, you have budgets of up to $400 million. That is just CRAZY!!!!!

Remember that a "go for it" attitude led to ground effects being used and then banned because they made the racing too dangerous.

Colin:
I would like to see Hamilton at Ferrari too.
The problem there may be that he & Alonso were team mates at McClaren & THEY had a riff.
I forgot what happened except Alonso said Hamilton was lucky to win the races he won!
To the press! Lucky huh?
Hamilton has proven luck has very little to do with him winning.

Remember Jim Hall's Chaparral??
It was the very first to use wings to create down force! In the sixties!
I saw it race at Laguna Seca with Phil Hill driving. I'm dating myself, but, I have lived a little.
