Pepsi 250 1985

Post by baders »

This may have been posted before. However, it features some fantastic footage of our wonderful cars at their racing best. This was a time when the 635 (in M30 form) was still so competitive that the racing authorities had to move the goal posts to make the local product (Holden Commodore) be able to compete. Imagine what an M88 version could have done. Lots of other great cars here too. Jaguar V12 XJS, Ford Mustang, Toyota Supra 2.8, and even a Volvo vacuum cleaner !!

That brings back memories, I was there on that day. My passion for the E24 started with the black JPS cars and it took me another 20 years before I was able to buy one. Thanks for posting Paul.

Wow, so was I !! This was my 5th year at Bathurst as I recall. There was something about Jim Richards 635 that fired my imagination. The way it sat so flat across the top of the mountain. It spoke of a well designed car. A few years after that, I bought my first 635, a 1979 import model with an engine built by Canberra racing aficionado, Ray Gulson. For the next 3 years, Ray would send me 5 pit passes for Bathurst and myself and some very lucky mates would make the trip down and hang out in the Gulson pits. Ahhhh, the good memories !
