Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
My 1985 M635CSi is currently on E39 17" staggered Style 32's (with Bimmer Spinners if anyone remembers them) but will probably go onto 17" staggered Classic Alpinas fairly soon.
My 1982 635CSiA is currently on E34 15" Style 5's but will probably go onto staggered 17" E31 two-piece Style 5's when I wear out the rubber.
TRX's are a distant memory but the prices still make me wince.

16" FVH Elise on the 633, 18" Beyern 5s on the 635. Like a dummy, I only clicked 16" before I hit submit, so a vote for 18" won't show up...

Currently under the car: BBS-Mahle 16*7 (front) and 16*8 (rear) but will change to BBS 3-piece 16*10 on all wheels.

Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
Originally had the 415 metrics but now have 17". Much better tyre choice than going 1 down to 16". Eventually I will make a set of triple tapered BBS RS out of the metrics in 18" for even more tyre choice. It's becoming increasingly difficult to get top end tyres in anything wider than 245/40/17 hence the eventual move to 18". Inherently the BBS RS are very light. If it's too much for the e24 chassis I can always put them on my e34 I guess

Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
Good old 390mm TRXs still for me. Not old ones though, current modern compound version that have plenty of grip.
Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
17x8 RC090 - very pleased with the result (over the original TRX).. put 4 235x35 profile Michelin PS4 on them.

Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
I have had a number of combinations of 15" 16" and 17". I presently have a set of restored 3 piece BBS RS wheels. Of all the wheels I have used these and the 16" style 5 basketweaves from an E 38 rode the best.
I recently had a set of 17" style 66 M Pars with spacers and hub centrics on the car and I really liked the look. I have a set of 18" Style 32 M Pars that I am thinking of trying just to see if I like the look. I do think rims make the look of a car. The BBS RS are period correct and make the car look classic IMHO but the style 66's made the car look great and changed the look of the car to a more updated and modern look. Just MHO!

Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
16 x 8, et 16 Remotecs . Will be changing them to 16" style 5 from E39 as they carry just a little too much offset for me. Lovely smooth ride on 225/50 tyres though.
I had 17 x 8 BBS RX reps fitted but that size was just too stiff on the rough roads down here in SW Ireland .

17x8 or 17x8.5 (can't remember...sigh) style 5's wrapped with 235/45R17 Eagle GTs.
Wanna say they're 8.5s or have a really big offset, only a fart of space between the tire and strut tower.

I'm curious, how do you turn the wheels to go around corners without destroying the front wheel arches?Rickytickytavvy wrote:18x8 // 18x9 BBS Style 5 factory wheels from an E31/E38. Low +20s offset on both IIRC. Running 225/40-18 and 245/40-18 Toyo Extensa HP's

He has it bagged (air bag suspension). To drive it, he raises the car up so there's no interference with the fenders.

Re: What diameter wheels are you running on your E24?
I see. Thanks for the explanation. Bit OT, but does airbag suspension have any handling benefit over convention springing on vehicles designed for street use other than allowing for extreme stance capability for static photo shoots? I'm aware of the benefits of airbag springing for off-road 4WD use. The guy who rebuilt my Bilsteins here sells a lot of airbag kits to the local 4WD market.hornhospital wrote:He has it bagged (air bag suspension).
