Exactly. That's the intercooler where the air filter used to be, and the air filter has been moved to the right side, as on a non-M car. Looks like fun.

Those first images are of a Dinan turbocharged M88/3 M635CSi.

Apparently it is a 1984 Euro M635CSi car imported into the USA in 1985. The conversion, the only M88/3 one as opposed to an S38 USA M6, was completed by Dinan in 2001. It was exported from the USA to Poland earlier this year.

The current owner has recently introduced both himself and the car on an E24 facebook group page.
