Stuck with motronics problems Flensburg, Germany

Post by madridcab »

On route back to Madrid from road trip to Norway, car has developed intermittent poor running and dying problem (occurs as car heats up, we had 35 deg centigrade and sun today) suspect motronic. Need good mechanic, will go to local BMW garage tomorrow, but if anybody on here would have any local knowledge, would be very grateful for input..

Many thanks and greetings..

We think is not fuelling related, with pressuregauge the problem occurred while fuel pressure remained unchanged. New relays, pump and filter..
2 issues, car stumbles and hesitates at high revs, and then dies when warms up after driving for a while. The car is not running hot on the gauge, which stays below mid point

What is the condition of the distributor cap, rotor and spark plug leads + spark plugs ?
The M88/3 was all about power, no cats. At idle the raw fuel from the exhaust will make your eyes water like an old V-8 powered muscle car's exhaust did.

I've seen several cars that manifested these symptoms; however the cause varied from failing crank sensors to failing ECU (bad solder joint), to failing main relay.

If you change each thing one at a time you ought to be able to identify what the problem is.

Good luck

cheers

Just out of interest, if your car is a late model one and has the OBDI style connector, did they find any fault codes stored in the Motronic unit?
I keep a fault code reader in the boot.
