BMW 100 Year Centenary Festival

Post by sideshowbob »

Hi, just interested to know are any other E24 owners intending to visit Munich weekend Sat. 10th September for the 100 year Festival.

I am taking my 1988 635CSi on a road trip from the UK, visiting the Black Forest and then onto the Festival where the car will be displayed for the weekend outside the Olympic Stadium.
Have arranged a factory tour around the Munich factory on the Friday and a visit to the BMW museum on the Saturday.
BMW are having a beer festival for owners on the Friday evening and a concert in the Stadium on the Saturday night. Hopefully it will be a fabulous weekend followed by an organised exit from Munich on Sunday afternoon and a leisurely return to the UK on Monday.
Busy polishing and servicing ready for the trip.

Ok, it is, and it is thunderously quick on the autobahns.

Excellent day here today; seen a few 507's, loads of Z8's including an Alpina, more than a dozen M1's including the 3 ProCar's at the BMW Classic facility and for those in the know I spotted the V16 Goldfish, the 328 Streamline car and its modern homage and chatted (over some freebie glasses of wine) to a BMW Dr of Engineering about the development aspects of the BMW 'Turbo' car we were stood in front of, which gave some of its looks to the E26/1 M1.

Spotted your car miike87, very nice indeed and keeping great company in that long line of E24's.

I'll post some pics when I get back.

I'm back home after a 940 km roundtrip, including the BMW recommended Tegernsee-tour. It was such an outstanding expierence. I'd guess it was an once in lifetime chance. Hopefully I'll post a large set of pictures soon.
I'm still wondering that we could enter the holy halls with stuff like the goldfish, 328, steamliner, E65 L7 and ....

Was that your friends' UK registered M1 next to the registration counter?

It was about a 1900 mile (about 3000km) for my friend and about 600km less for me. Still got stuff to do so pics later but my friends M1 was the white one covered in about 1500km worth of flies

It's got another 1500km worth of flies on it now.
