Very interesting! The stage II set-up looks like a good compromise.

Money is worth about 2.4 times less, which means a $3,995 set up in 1981 dollars is about $9,500 now.
If that's without labor, wow. I bought a new car that year that that price was more than half of.
1985 635 CSi, manuf date 11/85, 5 spd manual.
