So I'm at this Christmas party last Sunday night...
...talking with a female friend, recently widowed But I recalled that her husband had a fairly special C3 Corvette back in the day
So I enquire if she still has it, sure as shit, still does, and has been trying to sell it for quite a while now
I've always toyed with the idea of picking up some sorta older American iron, as we go to a lot of car shows around here with my brother in law, and face it, the 6er, nice as it is, doesn't fit in very well
I decide to ask a few more questions, as it's been years since I last saw that car and didn't remember much about it, other than it had a 427 under the hood, those awesome header/side pipes that could wake the dead, but not much else
Now I have to admit that it's not exactly stock, and with custom fender flares, the value is likely lower than the pristine examples you see going for 6 figures on those TV auctions
But shit, only $30 grand
So, what say ye, Big Coupe braintrust
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/5910973413.html
Do I have 30 large kicking around with nothing to do? NO
Do I need yet another vehicle, let alone a toy? NO
Am I just a bit more than interested? YES

Make sure it comes with a set of chutes.
Notice the seats provide minimal lateral support since it's not necessary.
Perfect for those Sunday morning drives to church.

Just do it. You only live once. Better to do something and regret it than never to do it at all.

The right year for the Mako Shark body style
The right black on black color
The best motor
4-speed
Convertible
The car looks very clean but, what are the miles? And "period correct" motor? If not numbers matching then this will effect collector value. I personally like the looks of the flares. Maybe if you have established a "relationship" of sorts with the seller there could be some wiggle room in the $30,000 asking price. I bet a very fun car to drive. And I bet it sounds mean as hell and could eat tires like a chainsaw rips through wood.

If you like it, go for it!
Myself, I am not a fan of that body style. Now if it was a 1967 Stingray body, I might be tempted to arm wrestle you over it.

Re: So I'm at this Christmas party last Sunday night...
OK, updates...
Haven't spoken with the owner since, still debating in my own mind mainly because one, I don't have the coin and would probably have to refinance the house, again, and two, no where to store it
But I did speak to a friend who knew the guy who owned it and past away, told me that the "some stress cracks" are in the paint, which I wasn't sure about, gladly it's not the engine
Sounds like it will need a paint job, however, amazing how photos never show that level of detail, or just not photographed close enough to reveal those issues
The engine is correct, original and numbers matching
There are 80k miles on the car, not "bad" for a 48 year old car
I'll keep you guys posted, if it's meant to be, the 6er world will be the first to know

FYI: ALL of them have stress cracks in the paint. With nearly 50 years old fiberglas, it's to be expected.
