Spotted - UK RHD M635CSi in Malaysia

Post by Soperman »

An E24 enthusiast from Malaysia has come across what appears to be a UK RHD M635CSi, and posted a couple of pictures on a Facebook group page.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/6606829 ... 249028115/

The car was on the road in the UK up until 4 years ago at most. I thought "our" cars only ever ended up in bloody Australia.

There's a suggestion that it may once have been Alpine White.

Anyone recognise it?

Having looked through Ron's data, I have come to the conclusion that this could be #243 which was originally Alpine White on reg. MGD 840. The DVLA site shows the current registration number had white bodywork when last MOD'd in May 2014.

Pod, it cannot be 243, because that has just appeared for sale (sporting the registration number D643ELH, and with a Highline bumper conversion) here in the UK, having been in storage for 9 years.

Hi all,
Just getting back into things M635 related after 18 months off (travelling, grandchild, decorating, garden, wife etc.). I have this indeed as an Alpine white car that used to belong to 'ian M635uk', a regular contributor on here I recall, based in Stoke. This car was first registered 1st Aug 1986. I think it was very well sorted by Ian with a complete engine rebuild that he did himself. Very knowledgeable chap. I don't have a chassis no. for this car though.

Wow
Just searched my old car to find a picture of it on here!
Yes this is my old car chassis number 0760216. Previously alpine white.
Exported to Malaysia 5 years ago.
Got a fair price for it then, god knows what it would fetch in the UK today! But heyho it went to an enthusiast and I have moved on to other things.

Was a trick car in its day, Dinan stage 5 suspension, schrick cams, JE pistons, blah blah balh.

Great to see it around. Colour change an individual choice though!

Thanks for sharing it.

No problem. Still miss it. And the Highline 635 I restored.
But just put an e34 535se manual back on the road...so I still have the gangster in me...
