Update from Cassie: a couple of blood transfusions later the anaemia is being sorted, but he is very fed up being in hospital.

The good news is the Severn Bridge has been made toll free to get into Wales for a visit once he's well enough, but the bad news is that the motorway means missing the tunnel through Monmouth for maximum exhaust reverberation!

I've just spoken to Ron and he's home from hospital. He's facing a slow recovery to full health but it was heart-warming to hear his voice again - we've been friends due to these cars for many years now and enjoyed some great weekends and times together so I passed on everyones best wishes for his steady return to good health. He in turn has read the thread and passed on his thanks to all on bigcoupe.

Many, many thanks for all your good wishes etc. Had 21 days in hospital and was discharged home. That lasted 4 days before the District Nurse became extremely concerned about leakage from the wound (it smelt terrible) !!!!

So back to the local hospital which kept me in for the night and the following day transferred me 50 miles down the road to where I had the original op.

Had some exploratory surgery yesterday and back in again tomorrow. Not really sure what the options are.

I am completely knackered and so is Cass who has a round trip of 100 miles.

Thanks again. Will update as and when I can.

Glad to have you back in the fold! Life is ridiculously fragile and precious. The scare you must have given your family, and all of us internet family members too! Take care of yourself as well as you do your cars and you should be just fine!

I've just had an all too short but thoroughly enjoyable chat with Ron.
Alas he's still in hospital and although sounding slightly brighter he's still very tired and exhausted.
Whether the 24/7 hands on care by a squadron of nubile young nurses has anything to do with that , well ,that's up to him to say ......
He is accessing the site and sends his regards to all and will drop us a line soon.
He certainly has been through the mill but says he's getting the best of care and eating a bit more each day .
Poor Cass is driving a round trip of 100 miles each day after a days work to visit , so she really deserves some sympathy too. =D>

Keep up the recovery Ron and get home soon .

Just got back from visiting Ron in hospital - still laughing at Drew's "Rustier than you thought" message!

On the mend, hoping to be back home after consultant checking the repairs tomorrow. To my untrained eye, the welds need grinding down, at least!

Thanks for visiting him Rob, I'm a little too far to try and just drop in.

Ron called me after your visit and he sounded a lot better than the last time we spoke; it sounds as though he'll be in for a lengthy return to good health and fitness but with a little luck his 'welds' will hold this time.

I love how you guys keep a chin up through all of this =D>

Surely the rest of us in the world are hoping for a successful recovery for Ron [-o<

Now, next question for you guys in the UK, where the Hell did Brucey disappear to again :-?

IIRC, he was having some health issues as well :-&

Maybe you guys can reach out and check on his status as well :-k

Many, many thanks for all the the messages of best wishes and support. I'm now back home (for the second time) and starting the long recuperation. Apparently my "wound" could take a few months to heal so won't be out in the garage any time soon!!

Wil have to rethink my strategy as I have too many cars so need to offload some.

Any interest please PM.

Thanks to you all again.

Wow glad to hear you are home and getting back on track. Don't sell those cars yet you may be wishing you didn't. Take some time to recuperate first. Hoping to see someone getting shit for not having their address in profile very soon. :D Good luck Ron

Just came on here for the first time in... Well... Probably years.

Found this and was struck down at first - before getting to the part were it was mentioned that Ron was actually on the mend a bit. Do keep on that path, will ya'?
While I haven't been on here that much and probably not in direct contact with Ron at any point I do know how important he is to Bigcoupe and how much he's volunteered his help over the years.

Keep getting well, Ron!
